Charlotte, North Carolina – A Great Place to Live
Located in the state of North Carolina, Charlotte is home to the Carolina Panthers and the Hornets. The city also has a vibrant arts scene. The city is known for its festivals, which offer a range of entertainment and activities. For example, the fall Festival in the Park features live music, food, and art exhibits. Another event is the Kings Drive Art Walk, where visitors can peruse the works of local artists. Other notable events take place in Charlotte, including the Latin-American Festival, which features Latin-American foods and music. And the Charlotte New Music Festival features concerts, lectures, and workshops on new music.
The area that is now Charlotte was first settled by European colonists around 1755. Thomas Spratt, a relative of U.S. President James K. Polk, built a home in the area. His son, Thomas Polk, a politician, and nephew of the late James K. Polk, settled nearby and built a house at the intersection of two Native American trading paths. One of these paths ran north-south along the Great Wagon Road and another ran east-west along Trade Street.
In terms of cost of living, Charlotte is among the most affordable cities in North Carolina, according to the U.S. Bureau of Economics. As a result, the median price of a Charlotte home is $500,000 or less. However, house prices can easily reach the millions. Additionally, Charlotte boasts some of the best school districts in the state. Both public and private schools receive good ratings in academics.
