Charlotte is a major city in the Piedmont region of North Carolina. It is known as “The New Energy Capital” and has approximately 240 companies directly tied to the energy sector, employing over 26,400 people. Some of the largest players in the energy industry include Duke Energy, Electric Power Research Institute, AREVA, Fluor, and Babcock and Wilco. Besides these major energy companies, Charlotte is home to nearly four thousand producers in all major manufacturing sectors.
