The Charlotte-Mecklenburg school system serves about 140,000 students. There are 175 primary and secondary schools in the area. For students whose parents cannot afford the cost of private school tuition, there are charter schools available. There is also a low income scholarship program for students who need help paying for private school tuition.

There are a number of museums in Charlotte. The Bechtler Museum of Modern Art is a great place to go for art lovers. The museum has over a million pieces of art from around the world. There are also temporary exhibitions. There are also two Mint Museums, one in Uptown and one in Randolph.
