The NC county is working to create a farmland preservation plan after development has shrunk the amount of land still around Charlotte.

We've been farming here since 2018 this Is a century Farm it's been in my family For over 100 years back in my Grandmother's time I'm sure they farmed All types of row crops you know and then In my dad's time he always had like Another job and just kept it as farmland For our family but he did use it for Cutting hay for our the cows that they Had that's what it was when I was Growing up and then over the years you Know when we moved back to the area we Wanted to do a little bit more with it As more of an active farm and you know Have a harvest that was A little bit different so we that's when We came up with hemp and we make our CBD Products from the hemp we grow and then Of course we have the cup flowers that We sell and then we host people out here For small and and medium-sized events You have to evolve your business Strategy to kind to fit in with that Environment so for us that was the Development of the agritourism aspect Because we're surrounded by these Communities of people who have families And they want to be able to bring their Children to see a farm to see you know Something beautiful and unique in nature So we've kind of just capitalized on That and we've created that environment For them to be able to come out here and Enjoy the farm so from that aspect it's

In some ways been helpful to us but I do Think that the struggle is keeping the Farmland in farm use as opposed to the Tendency for it to be sold to Development Foreign
