Charlotte FC’s Bill Tuiloma speaks on his experience being one of the few Pacific Islanders in the league and his desire to create a pathway for the next generation of Asian Pacific American athletes.
Being the first New Zealander or Pacific Islander to play in the um the French League there will probably be one of the Best moments of my life and in my career And representing where I come from There's uh you know not not a lot of us A lot of you know Asian Pacific people Out here and they were less but those Who are here are representing all them All them kids around in the Pacific Nation and Asian nation and hoping to Um you know create a pathway for them That you know it is possible to make it Out into MLS or any any other league as Well so we are always there to uh you Know build role models and to let them Kids know that it is possible being a Pacific island being a Samoan I did not have the luxury of having an Upbringing as other kids but I am very Grateful for who I am and where I come From and who I become now as you know I've been in the Pacific Islander [Music]
