Located in the heart of North Carolina, Charlotte is a city that has it all. A major banking hub with a diverse economy, the city is also known as a hotbed for start-ups. With a rich cultural scene, heated sports battles and chart-topping entertainers, there is always something happening in the Queen City.
Easily the most famous theme park in either of the Carolinas, Carowinds is a must visit for anyone in Charlotte. Offering traditional wooden roller coasters and modern steel coasters, this park is an ideal family-friendly attraction.
The city has a wide selection of museums that are worth visiting. The Mint Museum (first established in 1936) is the state’s oldest art museum and has two locations: one in Uptown and one off Randolph Rd. The Bechtler Museum of Modern Art is another attraction that shouldn’t be missed, featuring pieces from artists such as Warhol and Picasso.
If you’re into sport, Charlotte is a great place to be as the city is home to teams at every level of American sports including NFL football’s Carolina Panthers and NBA basketball’s Charlotte Hornets. The city is also well known for its long history with NASCAR, hosting the first ever professional stock car race in 1949.
