Located in a major business center, Charlotte tends to attract professionals. It’s also a natural magnet for students from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, Duke University and Davidson College.
The city is divided into a number of distinct neighborhoods. Historical, upscale and up-and-coming communities offer a wide variety of housing options to suit nearly any taste or budget. In addition, the CATS bus system offers local and express routes, plus a light rail that connects various points in the city including South Charlotte, Center City and NoDa.
A large percentage of the city’s residents work in professional and technical jobs, such as banking and human resources. Recently, Glassdoor ranked Charlotte as the 24th best place in the country to find a job.
While it may be one of the biggest cities in North Carolina, Charlotte still has that small-town feel. It’s easy to see that the people who live here are passionate about making the city a great place to be.
A big part of that is the fact that it’s a very social city with a diverse group of residents. It’s hard to get bored living in Charlotte! If you do need a break, just head an hour west to the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains or drive 3-4 hours east for gorgeous beaches on the Atlantic coastline.
