With what he says and maybe both there There's that there's that option that he Could give you both the Vegas odds are Interesting because we've been going Back to last year's uh draft as an Example of Jabari Smith being slated as Number one for really the entire Pre-draft process and then very last Minute I I want to go back I I wish I You know had it in front of me at when It changed to Palo boncaro because it Was like the night before it might have Even been the day before yeah and then It changed to Paulo but here we are Where you've seen the odds actually go From favoring Brandon Miller Miller was Like minus 240 to Millers plus whatever Right it was plus 100 something like That and they've changed basically every Six days or something like that so if You go back to like June 6th June 12th Then going to June 16th so you know not Quite six days and then coming up here The odds have even changed since I Checked them last if you just go to FanDuel right now you're at -195 for Scoot to be the second overall pick You're at plus 140 for Brandon Miller to Be the second overall pick you're right It doesn't mean that those are only Meaning that the Charlotte Hornets are Going to make one of those guys number Two overall but the odds are still Pointing more towards scoot Henderson

Running through those pipes over the Past you know 10 10 years so you know There's a there's a a flood of water Going through those pipes right now Because everybody's looking at them Because they are the team that has to Make the decision whether to go scoot Brandon or trade I mean they are going To set the agenda for the draft so yeah I think I think there is more of a Possibility to leak now than there's Ever been before and and we'll just have To see which way they go you know again I I think it would be a massive mistake Not to go scoot here for a number of Reasons because I I think the fit does Work uh between lamelo ball and Scoot Henderson I think it would make that Backcourt so difficult to defend I mean I think scoot is a guy that right now Right now you plug them in and I think He's going to be a problem for NBA Defenses and I think he's only going to Get better I think it would be Beneficial for that locker room because He brings it intensity and a Championship mindset like he wants it so Bad and a seriousness he would bring a Seriousness to the soccer room that I Think they desperately need and for Brandon you're just hoping that he puts On the weight that he gets stronger you Know the shooting's there but you're Just hoping that he develops into that

To tell to explain if they did not go Scoot explain what about his Presentation and the way he carries Himself at the goals he set out for Himself and the way he's approached Being a pro basketball player wasn't Enough you know to push him above a Brandon Miller in the eyes of the Hornets maybe the shooting and the and The easier path to seeing a fit was you Know was enough to outweigh that Um and if that's the case you know they Should go with whatever they determine The best route to be but that's kind of What I am interested in hearing that the Odds shifted I think when news broke About those two coming back in on Monday For another sit down uh with MJ at this Time involved so I just think the the Way scoot is already professional and And and the potential he has not to Mention you know his play right now is At a very high level and and there's Stuff to like about both but to me the Intangibles he brings I brought up the Locker room uh presence today Doug You know in a flurry of tweets and this Team still needs that and I think you Talk about Brandon Miller being a Culture changer not just for the Hornets But wherever he goes right and so he's Going to be that guy that can maybe lead A team in a different direction and I And to me that is you know a a big a big
Thing to pass up if that's the the Direction they end up going but Um you know Miller also is brings a lot Of things to the table there's just more Question marks and if you don't have That shooting uh he gives you some Defense but you know we can do a full Breakdown on it it's just going to be Fascinating to see if we get anything Out of Mitch uh based on what we know About these two guys and we honestly we Know a lot more about scoot I feel like Then we do Brandon Miller right now Yes I'm Doug well okay I have I have a Couple of things I'll I have a buffet of Things that I'll let you choose from I Have some facts I've got a question and I've got a concern which would you like Oh man I got some facts I've got some questions And or I got a question and I've got Some concerns all right it get give me The fact and then I'll give you a Concern of mine go ahead okay great Um the facts are I've got some odds from Last year's draft pulled up here this is Just a few days out from the draft Jabari Smith was a minus 250 to go Number one overall Palo bankera a plus 1600. so this was the Tuesday of the of The drafts this is pretty close this was 6 14. I'm not I think the draft was on Like 6 20 or something so six days out So it's pretty close and that's crazy so
Vegas doesn't know what they're talking About either you can go ahead and lump Them in with fake Fisher and uh devoni And Kevin o'conn man Okay so yeah I'm interested as we get See but I am interested in like you're Right it's close but I am interested in Right before the draft because they did Get it you know they did start to turn To Power as we got so close to the draft Date here's my thing just real quickly So in that report written by Jake Fisher Talking about how signs are pointing Towards them drafting Brandon Miller The problem that I have is that Despite the size okay despite the Explosiveness of scoot Henderson I'm Using Jake Fisher's words here in his Reporting Miller's perceived optimal fit Seems to be too much of a factor for Charlotte to pass over It's not about him being the better Prospect which we've talked about time And time again Jake doesn't have to say they also feel He's the better Prospect like yeah maybe I don't want to get on someone for not Including the words I want to hear I Don't want to get on someone for not Writing at length some of the other Reasons right but that is what seems to Be too large of a factor is what Jake Writes that he's too optimal a fit next To lamelo ball that is the problem if
You select Brandon based off of optimal Fit that is the problem I'm going to Have if you want to tell me that they Think Brandon Miller is the better Prospect because of they because they do Think that his archetype actually is Jason Tatum and not just Chris Middleton Which still would be a fine enough Player to get at number two he's not an All-nba guy if you wanted to tell me That you think there was a real Possibility he could reach basically an MVP candidate which if you're going to Compare him to Jason Tatum then that's What you're doing then great but don't Tell me that he's the optimal fit and That's the big factor as to why despite The size which by the way size was a Weakness there were two glaring Weaknesses for scoot Henderson it was His size and it was his shooting well Now it's being turned into an advantage Like despite his size yeah like he's 6'4 He's chiseled as hell and he's got a six Nine wingspan so that's the problem I'm Sure Mitch cupcak is going to say that We think he fits in with this roster Whenever they select him if that is the Case and I just hope they also sell and Do a convincing job of selling to us the Fan that no this is the better overall Prospect and we didn't just take them Because we can play them on the wing and He's not going to take the ball out of
Lamelo's hands even though that's not Necessarily true either again it sounds More and more like they are overthinking This and they are people that aren't Even going to be they in like as soon as Maybe this season but certainly Certainly there are going to be some People making this decision that are not Going to exist within the Hornets Organization two seasons from now that's What makes this so brutal if they do Overthink this because they're thinking Three seasons out even though they're Probably not even going to be around When all that happens and there there's There's something to me silly about Trying to find an optimal fit with Another player that you're not Guaranteed is going to stay healthy You're not guaranteed that lamello is Going to you know continue to get to Full flower and become an all NBA a Player we all hope that happens yeah but But to draft based on those assumptions That's what that's what you're drafting On assumptions instead of saying like Like Walker's saying instead of going Hey Take all of that out who is the best Prospect instead they're trying to make These little puzzle pieces fit and it Just doesn't make any sense but I do Have a question and I think it could Lead us into some interesting

Phoenix that a lot of these trade rumors Seems like Damian Lillard and Miami you Know we're fueling inevitably like we're Heading towards that unless Damian Lillard just decides now which I just Want to stick it out in Portland but it Just seems like a lot of these deals Have quieted down the one thing that Interests me though and David sort of Alluded to this earlier in the show is Like maybe Vegas thinks scoot is going Number two because there could be a team That does move up and you know we talked A lot about New Orleans Washington's you Know before the Beale deal made a made An interesting trade partner but what About Portland I mean Portland's sitting Right there at three what about a little Three two swap Portland is up to two They take scoot they start their future Hornets get Brandon Miller at three uh Well you know would you feel any bit Would you feel just even a little bit Better if the Hornets you know acquired Some assets some future assets moved Down and got their guy at three because The Hornets love as we as evidenced by Last season they love trading or at Least sliding down they traded their 11 Pick they slid down to take the guy they Wanted to take all along Mark Williams What do you think David yeah I mean if An asset they get back is a potential NBA guard uh sure uh but it feels like
They could have taken that you know Swung on that themselves uh yeah I mean You would have to feel like if they Could swing to get something it's not Something they've done a ton though Um it doesn't feel like they've Leveraged uh the draft in that capacity And I I it just feels like a lot of Moving parts to me if you're You know if you can finagle something It's still going to be drafting Brandon Miller over scoot Henderson no matter How you shake it out and and um that Would be a move that that I wouldn't Necessarily agree with so it'd have to Be a heck of an asset coming back to to Even that out I think well and as far as The trade rumors dying in this same Report by the way that indicates Miller Is the favorite to be the number two Pick Jake does mention Brandon Ingram Zion Williamson as possible targets for The Portland Trailblazers in this Potential trade so maybe it's not Centered around necessarily the Charlotte Hornets but really it's just a Means to get scoot Henderson to New Orleans right so if the Hornets draft Brandon Miller at two that's why Portland would be the target for the Pelicans but if they think Portland Um or if they think Charlotte is going To take skewed Henderson number two then Maybe that would be the idea of them
Getting rid of Zion Williamson in that Trade and that's why Brandon Ingram is Also another Target for maybe Charlotte That it seems like the Hornets are more Interested in the Kinston native rather Than the Spartanburg native so you know We'll see what happens with the Hornets And some of these trades I think partly It's just because we've gotten all the Juicy nuggets coming from that and I Just don't know what else there is to Write if if negotiations are the same Going back and forth so I still think It's very much in play what do you think Doug I mean I think it's always going to Be in play but I'll repeat something That I said during our one hour live Show that we did when the the Michael Jordan sale news came down which is that I just think this has to affect The idea of not who they would take but What their options are in terms of Making like a big Blockbuster deal that Would bring back a massive contract Which you know good play great players In this league have big contracts Because I do think that you you would Want to leave those new owners with the Opportunity to invest in these teams Future and it's much more difficult to Invest in a team's future when the books Are locked up significantly so I just Think it I think it really Focuses this team now on picking a
Player that's going to help this team You know two three seasons from now Significantly rather than bringing in Someone you know a big name like a Zion Or Brandon Ingram with that big contract Number that could help them immediately Next season so that's that's the only Thing the other concern that I have is That if the Hornets do take Brandon Miller I've seen some of these Brandon Miller Fans on YouTube in the comments there's No they're not going to leave us an off Ramp they're not going to leave us an Off ramp to get off the scoot Highway And get on to the Brandon Miller Highway They're just gonna they're gonna they're They're they've they've seen me kick Everyone off the scoot wagon uh We've Burned our Brandon Miller Bridges we Can't we can't see any positives in that Edition is that is that what you're Saying those won't be welcomed no no I'd Say they will not welcome us that's That's right yeah they're not yeah yeah Because look you know I think we've been Jokingly uh you know we've talked uh Well Pasha we we do feel passionately About scoot Henderson but we've tried to I think be fair that Brandon Miller is a Really good player we just think scoot Has the potential to be uh much much Better but I don't think the fans of Brandon Miller are going to see it that
Way they're just gonna that's such a Weird it's such a weird that's the thing About this whole thing it's bizarre it's Like there's clearly a line of thinking Out there from scouts teams Executives Whomever that like Brandon Miller more Uh no so it's not like we would hate Hate hate on the pick we were just more Fans of of scoop but that's another Dimension of this whole thing that's That's crazy is the divisive nature but Just in the fan base here here's here's What I want to say real quickly about All that too all of the draft stuff from Everybody writing about the Hornets or That might have Brandon Miller in the Same tier as good Henderson think They're 1A and 1B Every single person that I've seen right Any prominent name anybody and they're All great Everyone that has complained that people Have been going too hard for scoot the Same people have scoot Henderson as the Second overall best Prospect And you can only take one person at Number two overall and so what's gonna Happen here is you can say hey I always Like Brandon Miller for sure I love Mark Williams last year I would have taken Jaylen during but I loved Mark Williams And I said so a million times hey this Is not just some consolation prize right With this Brandon Miller scoot Henderson
