Things to Do in Charlotte, North Carolina
Events, Life, Sports, Weather, News
Whether it’s the photo-worthy skyline you can capture from a rooftop bar or the friendly, neighborly feel of its neighborhoods, Charlotte is a city where locals say they love living. Its booming job market, balanced cost of living and abundant fun things to do make it one of the most popular places to relocate in North Carolina.
The climate here is a major attraction: warm, sunny summers and mild winters that often stay sunny and dry. In fact, the average daily temperature is 75 degrees from May through September and only reaches a high of 89 in June.
And despite its reputation for being an automobile hub, Charlotte isn’t without public transit options. However, long wait times and limited routes mean many residents prefer to stick with their cars.
If you’re an outdoorsy type, the city’s numerous parks and trails provide plenty of opportunities for hiking, biking and exploring. The biggest parks are located in the SouthPark area, which includes 230 acres and has shops, restaurants and other amenities. In addition, the upscale neighborhoods of Ballantyne and Dilworth offer tree-lined streets and beautiful homes. And, if golf is your game, the city has several top-rated courses, including the famed Quail Hollow Country Club and the Wachovia Championship Golf Tournament at Renaissance Park. There are also a number of private country clubs in the area where memberships are available. But you can also play at a number of public courses that are open to the general public.
