Living in Charlotte North Carolina

Events, Life, Sports, Weather, News

With a mild winter and stunning fall foliage, Charlotte is a year-round destination. However, it’s not for everyone. If you want to escape the blazing heat of summer, head into the mountains for some fresh snow, or take in a baseball game at BB&T Park.

Whether you’re a die-hard fan or just passing through, there’s always something going on in Charlotte. Packed stadiums, courts and fields roar with the thunder of applause year-round as athletes of every sport show off their skills. And, once a year, NASCAR races transform the city into wall-to-wall action with an energy that’s hard to beat.

For those with children, there are plenty of highly-rated elementary and secondary schools to choose from. Niche, a website that helps new residents find great schools, gives the Charlotte area B+ for public school quality. In terms of higher education, there are several colleges and universities in the area including Johnson & Wales University, Central Piedmont Community College, and the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

The city’s economy is booming with banking and insurance companies leading the way. It’s also home to the Research Triangle which attracts many highly-skilled workers to the area, especially in fields like healthcare and technology. That said, it’s no secret that the cost of living in Charlotte is climbing. It still compares favorably to some other larger East Coast cities, but it’s no longer a bargain or a secret low-cost gem.
