Moving to Charlotte North Carolina?
Events, Life & Culture
Though the city has its fair share of “old money” (and a few snobby neighborhoods) it’s a surprisingly diverse place, even more so than many other northern and western cities. It’s also a fairly liberal place. For instance, it has a strong LGBT community, and a handful of very liberal and progressive churches like Elevation and Billy Graham’s Library.
People moving to Charlotte will find plenty of things to do and see. The city’s parks are perfect for a leisurely stroll, and there’s a slew of niche festivals that take place throughout the year. The Bechtler Museum of Modern Art is a highlight for fans of 20th century modernism, while the Levine Museum of the New South helps you discover North Carolina’s post-American Civil War history. Then there’s the Charlotte Ballet, one of the oldest in the state.
Sports fans have a lot to love about Charlotte, too. There’s a ton of action on the basketball court, and in the stands for NASCAR Race Week, when the city goes wall-to-wall for the annual car spectacle. There’s even a little something for the kids at Discovery Place, and the Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden offers an amazing holiday experience with a million lights and plenty of activities.
Weather, Sports & News
The climate in Charlotte is generally mild, and the winters are a bit warmer than the summers. The area gets around 218 days of sunshine each year, which is great for outdoor enthusiasts.
