Charlotte North Carolina – Things to Do, See, and Do
Events, Life, Sports, Weather, News
Whether you’re looking to get your Lexington-style bourbon and a side of cornbread down at the renowned Rooster’s in Uptown or want to grab some local craft brews and extra street cred in eclectic Plaza Midwood, Charlotte offers plenty of bars, restaurants, and cafes with a variety of culinary styles. And if you’re in need of a little rest and relaxation, head an hour west to the foothills or south to one of our beautiful beaches.
The city is also home to a number of large corporations, including Bank of America and Lowe’s. And while the finance and insurance industries continue to dominate employment numbers, health care and social work are rapidly gaining ground as well.
And if you’re the kind of person who likes to stay active, there are numerous parks and trails throughout Mecklenburg County as well as in Downtown Charlotte. And with more than 230 park and preserves on 12,000 acres, you can find the perfect spot to relax, enjoy the outdoors, or exercise your way around town.
The weather in Charlotte is typically mild year round with a hot, humid summer and a cold, dry winter. The chances of a wet day increase from May through August, with a greater than 31% chance of precipitation on any given day. When it rains, the city often experiences heavy downpours that cause flash flooding in low lying areas. Dry days are more common from September through April.
