Happen right away because he was just Getting to know Thomas Brown but those Who have more experience with Coach Brown say it's the smart move for the Panthers offense he's always trying to Just continue to perfect his craft Whether that was when he was playing or Whether that's as a coach um and he did Such a great job of owning whatever role It was whether as a running back or the Tight end Coach but there was always an Interest in continuing to absorb a bunch Of different material where hey I want To be able to make sure that hey I'm Doing my job right now but I'm also Setting myself up um for the Opportunities that I think he knew were Ahead not to mention our rookie Quarterback welcomes the news as well we Always knew that this was this was Coming and it's great for me to to learn From and continue to learn him from um So you know again it's really exciting He's a special coach he's a special Person a special guy a special coach and Just the way that he approaches the game Um you know I think um sometimes coaches Either have the intellect of x's and o's Or they have the the past player the Kind of the mindset and he's got an Unbelievable mix of the both the Panthers Remain the only winless team in The NFL heading into the week seven by a Rough reality for a group that had high
Expectations this off season when to Hire Thomas I knew it was going to Probably happen fast but we need I Needed to get in Season I I needed to Get in season and and see it all play Out I'd like to think this is the best Decision no matter what what our record Is always mentioned at some point wasn't Exactly sure when it would happen but Had his mind to be able to turn over to Somebody at some point and uh I will say The previous weeks has kind of been a Buildup of you know kind of giving me More more opportunities throughout Practice to be able to you know even Though it's script it but to call it More to have more involvement in that Regard uh but it's always been in this Mind it's just waiting for the Opportunity but the Panthers showed Flashes of what they might be capable of Against one of the best teams in the NFL Last Sunday plus believe it or not the Panthers were the highest scoring team In the NFC South through week six I came Out of last game with the first Opportunity to have no turnovers no Penalties which is a huge deal but Should be our standard operating Procedure but then also continue to try To find ways to put our guys in the best Spot to have success certainly some Things to hang our helmets on as we get Some extra time to prepare for the VIS
Visiting Houston Texans the extra week Allowing some members of the team to Heal guard Austin Corbett could be ready To make his season debut against the Texans after starting the year on the Pup list he began practicing with the Team earlier this month on the defensive Side of things they might be getting a Boost as well at safety it's possible Xavier Woods May return in week eight Regardless though the team is looking Forward to the time off and to getting Things turned around it's definitely got Got to make the most of the uh you know The bye that we have this year I know Obviously close to the middle of the Season so definitely you know I guess Time to kind of reflect and focus on Things we have to work on make sure we Get our body right and focus on the Second half that's what this week is for Anyway right for the coaches are going To go and self Scout and you know what Are our best schemes what schemes need Work what are you know how do we create The best matchups for individuals got And win games and you know right now you Know we're just we're focused on us Right now um you know we'll game plan a Little bit later you know we'll get a Good game plan going together so we'll Um we're take this week and self Scout Ourselves and you know fix the things we Need to clean up and then move on to
Next week we get there with pumpkin Spice permeating the air and the leaves Turning to beautiful fall colors it is Officially spooky season here in the Carolinas and we hope to give our Younger fans a frightful good time at Our annual Spooktacular in this week's Coch Community Spotlight well it may have been spooky But it was also quite special Panthers Rookies dressing up and teaming up with Patients from LaVine children's hospital For the charity catwalk event Claude and Chellis dressing up as Maui from Moana You got Deshawn Jameson as Mr Incredible And don't talk about Bruno or Nash Jensen who played the role from Encanto Aul Leota went as solely from Monster Zinc they went on to win the most Spirited award and then Jamie Robinson AKA Sebastian and the Little Mermaid won The bouquet award for the best runaway Walk can't forget about Spider-Man and Gwen either QB won Bryce young in a Sidekick winning the Franken Bodie Trophy a night that won't be forgotten By the Panthers rookies or the little Eyes that were watching [Music] Them this exclusive presentation of the Carolina Panthers television network is Brought to you in part by Bank of America official Bank of the Carolina [Music]
Panthers All right coach well the bye is Officially here but it doesn't come Without some pretty big news that you're Handing over the play calling Responsibilities to offensive Coordinator Thomas Brown this is not a Surprise though you told us back in Training camp that this was likely going To happen but what makes this the right Time I mean this was going to be a major Checkpoint with the bu having the week Um to kind of do our self Scout kind of Regroup it was part of the plan from the Beginning and I just think it's the Right time Thomas is ready I think this Is going to make our team better you Said you needed to get to know him first These first six weeks what have you Found out about Thomas Brown that you Didn't know before you have to get into Battles together you know and he doesn't Flinch he's got strong conviction he Knows what he likes why he likes it um You know philosophically we're on the Same page on most things but personality Wise we'll call the game slightly Different and so I'll look forward to That a lot of fans might have questions About how this might impact Bryce young Will it impact his process and and maybe Kind of how his how he reports s to no Um Thomas has kind of been involved all Along um in quarterback meetings and
Obviously his center point of the game Planning process so you know everything That goes on that call sheet really is Running through Thomas primarily so um This is just the natural next step for Him and for Bryce together as in in Their relationship as coordinator play Caller and quarterback this is a big Step for them as well the bye coming at A good time with some injuries what Excites you most before before we get to The bye looking back at that game Against Miami specifically that first Quarter a lot of exciting things there What makes you excited about the rest of The season well you know we just we're Just showing in spurts you know and and For that first quarter all three phases Defense playing well getting the stops Against a dynamic offense offense going Down with two touchdown drives um Special teams playing good so we just Need to extend that for longer periods a Time you know get a few guys back you Know uh healthy get some guys who are Hurt healthier and look forward to kind Of this next stretch we know the bye is Good for guys to really take a mental Maybe physical break get their bodies Right what will you be doing on the bye This week so our coaches you know you Know we work for the first part of the Week and do all the self Scout we do Have the players in for a couple days
Just light workouts with them kind of Clean up a couple things continue to get Better um and then coaches will kind of Really grind on the self Scout and uh And what we're trying to do there get a Little bit ahead on Houston um but Really just regroup self Scout and how Can we is there anything we can tweak or Add to what we're doing and you are a Former player as well what do you Remember about the bye when you were Playing and how guys really anticipate This week to kind of use that to refresh It's a big deal you know I mean it is a Long season it is a grind so it's a Chance to emotionally physically get Some rest spend time extended time with Family come back recharged how what's Your message to the team before they all Leave to to visit with their families or Take that time away yeah it's it's Important right you you got to shut it Down um you know you shut it down but You don't put your guard down and There's a difference right you know We're still in season this isn't like an Off season break we're in season in a Buy so you know shut it down but don't Put your guard down really that's the Message thanks so much coach thank you Closed captioning for the Panthers Television network is provided by Charlotte Eye Ear Nose and Throat Associates helping you enjoy the sights
And sounds of the NFL all season Long [Music] [Applause] All right it's time for TD's film room And despite the 0 and 6ar we are Focusing on the positives right now and The positive connection between rookie Quarterback and wide receiver Adam Thon They have a really special connection TD They absolutely have a special Connection and really after the first Two games of the Season you've seen how Dynamic this Duo has been been and we're Going to jump right in and we're going To show you this first connection that They had in this game so now if you look At this play and you look at this design You have Adam thielen right here up top Bryce took a vicious hit the second play Of the game and for that to happen in This Young quarterback to bounce back Stand in this pocket and still be able To deliver a throw like this it really Speaks to who Bryce young is as a Quarterback so now if you look at this Pocket right now and as this play plays Out you'll see that the Dolphins were Able to get a little pressure on Bryce Let's go back this guy right here is Going to be right in his face thel is Not open right now so Bryce has his eyes Locked in on Adam thielen if you look at This play right now you got one guy
Right here you got a guy right here and Potentially this guy could also come off But this safety right here could also Come Down what does Bryce young do he stays In the pocket and he delivers a strike To Adam th and th has been the consument Pro he always figures out a way to be Open and Bryce finds him whenever he's Available so that's one of the things That really shows how Dynamic this Connection is but let's talk about this Play right here we'll Jump Right In Right this is another Bryce young to Thelen connection you have these two Guys right up top they're stacked they Have these two guys and what's going to Happen We just talked about it Bryce is going To get pressure again what does he do Sometimes when you're getting pressure You can't follow through you can't step In but like the really good quarterbacks In this league you improvise you figure Out a way to flick your wrist and get The ball to where it needs to be right Here this is a big third down conversion For this football team and another great Throw to thi he delivered the strike and We got the first down Bryce young to Alan thi once again and on on this last Play this really shows how special this Kid really is because I was at this game And I'm watching and I'm like no it's
Going to be an interception but guess What Bryce put enough velocity on this Ball where the DB could not catch it and Adam thielen had the wherewithal to stay Locked in to stay focused on the Football even after it gets tipped to be Able to pour the ball in so that really Shows you how special these guys are and How they can be a very very good tandem If you watch this right now you can't Tell me that this is not going to be an Interception as you look at this DB Right Here I mean me personally it would have Been an interception I'm just saying but Right now Bryce did a great job of Putting this ball right in this bucket Like he it's literally like you're Throwing the ball into a net right Now putting it where only your guy can Come away with the reception and that's One of the the things that really makes Bryce young special being able to make Plays like this these are some of the Plays that we're looking forward to Seeing happen with this offense now that Thomas Brown is taking over seeing what He's going to be capable of doing and You know hats off to coach Reich being Able to turn the Rings over to Thomas And just let him see what he can do with This offense absolutely and we saw Bryce Young throw several darts in that game Against Miami talk a little bit though
About Adam Thelen He's 33 years old this Is a resurgence in his career we talked About that when he came to Carolina but He's doing some special things right now He is doing some really special things For him to be sitting right now with the Way the first two games went to be Sitting third in the entire NFL in Receptions I think that really speaks to Who Adam thieling is and and how hard He's worked to become the player that he Is we know his backstory his first NFL Touchdown came against us unfortunately On a block punt he blocked the punt Scooped and scored when he was playing For the VI but that really showed who Adam thielen is as a person for him to Work his way from being that to being a Perennial pro bowler I think that really Speaks to how hard this guy works and You can see it on the field he's always Open he figures he knows how to beat Zone coverages he understands when he He's going against man coverage when to Sit it down and Bryce feels really Comfortable with him now he has to Figure out a way to bring the other Younger guys along so they can learn From Adam thel yeah certainly a special Connection we hope to see more of it we Get further into the season TD don't go Anywhere no three keys to the game but We are going to be talking about the bye Coming up so make sure you come
[Music] Back well things look promising early on In Miami last week however the Juggernaut that is the Dolphins offense Eventually wore down the defense and Left us still on the hunt for that first Win of the season seon here's a look Back at the week that was in the Bojangles rewind we're at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens Florida Miami Has looked every bit the part of a Juggernaut the Panthers are 0 and five Could this be it for the Panthers to get Their first win and send shock waves Through the NFL this short-handed Panther D got Miami to go three and out contain and Sustain and that's what we did Young Fires downfield he's got th into dolphin Territory That's why he was the number one overall Pick hubard Springs free down the left Sideline first down and goal Carolina in Business hand off is to hubard straight Ahead and the panther strike first 7 Nothing Carolina third and short and Tua throws It backwards it's over the head of Moster it's a live ball mostard picks it Up Runs Out of Bounds this Juggernaut Miami offense two drives no points in a First quarter dominated by Carolina Young in the flat right side Trimble Makes the catch hurdles the defender
Tommy tremble get up young man he leap Frogged over xaven Howard this Panther Run game I love it let's just keep Leaning on him we have to sustain Touchdowns would be Huge throws to the end zone caught by Thin touchdown Carolina that was Fantastic the Panthers have their Biggest lead of the season and they're Doing it against one of the NFL's Best there is so much speed on this Offense they lead the NFL in 10 Different offensive Categories Tonga vioa is in the gun There's Miami's first explosive Play and this Miami highflying offense On the board it's 14-7 Carolina Raheem Moer takes it deep into Carolina Territory we had every opportunity to to Get him down and Miami now with a chance To tie two it throws back to the end Zone and it's caught wad Miami has Pulled it even at 14 a piece Tong of ioa A shot gun snap pressure off the edge Takes a shot deep downfield it's caught Touchdown Tyreek Hill just outran the Panther defense the sockless hill makes It 20-4 Miami we've got to do something Offensive ly to give our defense a Little bit of a break and get us back Into this game Bryce young the snap Throws over the middle that's caught Bryce put it right on him and once again We find th
Again and now they're going to kick a Field goal this is a 43 y for Pino oh no Shanked it and it's Miami going in a Halftime with a seven-point lead at 2114 this offense again has been nothing Short of just a juggernaut this Season over the middle caught by Tyreek Hill stays on his feet changes Direction Mosts the running back across the goal Line for a Touchdown after a slow start 28 Unanswered by the Dolphins how do we Answer do we answer this let's continue To see growth from this offense Miami Showing Blitz young the snap steps up Down he goes Bryce had no chance on that One here comes Wilkins with the pressure He was unblocked and he sacks young Trying to duck away from pressure And he's going to be sacked you're Waiting for the chemistry between Bryce Young and somebody other than Adam Fel To develop we haven't seen it Yet young throwing downfield wants HST Incomplete and would have been a first Down instead it's Fourth and 10 Panthers Will go for it down 21 that's a disappointing Drive Disappointing ending to this drive Carolina needs a big play from its Defense White takes the snap screen pass Intercepted by Troy Hill he's got a Clear path down the left sideline Troy
Hill touchdown Carolina Dwight was late Troy Hill jumped the route see you later That'll do it 42-21 your final score the Schedule softens considerably on the Backside but the Panthers staring at 0 And six heading into the Byee well we've come to the time of the Show where we usually get TD's three Keys to the game but no game this Weekend because it is the bye so let's Get your three keys to the bye and how Did you as a player used to spend this By week you know during this time right Here this is a opportunity for you to Re-evaluate where you're at in the Season whether you're winning a bunch of Games whether you're losing a bunch of Games you go back as a player and you Look at the film on the things that you Didn't do so well and you look at the Things that you did really well and you Kind of figure out a way to improve upon All of that and that's what these Players need to do in this moment but Also take this time to just get away From the game and rejuvenate refresh and Understand that there's a lot of Football left you know the season hasn't Started out the way that this team Wanted it to start but they have an Opportunity to completely turn it around And you got to lock in you got to focus In on the next game when that game comes Up but you got to do your job do your
