Charlotte North Carolina – Fun Things to Do and New Friends to Make

Depending on how you like to spend your leisure time, Charlotte has plenty of options. It’s easy to fill up your calendar with fun things to do and new friends to make, particularly in the spring and fall.

The city is full of great museums and theaters, and there are also a lot of options for arts and culture lovers. The Mint Museum is the oldest art museum in North Carolina, while fans of racing can get their fix at the NASCAR Hall of Fame. And if you love music, there are a number of concert venues and the symphony to enjoy.

Of course, no trip to Charlotte is complete without checking out the local sports scene. The city is home to two major professional teams — the NBA’s Hornets and NFL’s Panthers — plus a number of minor league and college teams.

If beer is more your thing, you’ll find 18 breweries in Charlotte with offerings from all over the world. You can check out classics like Southern Tier and Birdsong Brewery, or try something a little more unique at Heist Brewery or Olde Mecklenburg Brewery. The city’s parks and recreation areas are also great for getting outside, but for something a bit different, head 3-4 hours west to the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains or south to the Atlantic beaches. Of course, being a large city, it’s not easy to escape the traffic and you’ll probably want your own car here.
