Hey thanks 37 years young yeah always Been there done That almost Twice I'm ready go on I can I can Multitask I'm a dad how like left back It's good no it's um I've been asked to To play there and and you know perform a Role and do a job And um it's coincided with results so uh Um I'm not going to complain about that And and going on a an un you know an Undefeated run right now so um yeah I'll Continue to do it as long as I'm asked To do it are you a left back or just Three center backs in a Way guess it depends on what phase of The game we're in um and I think that's That's a big key is is what phase phase Of play are we in do we have the ball or We out without the ball um are we you Know are we preventing counterattacks Are we you know are we you know in the In attacking third so it just it just Depends way you all shift to cover Nathan when he's up so yeah it it it Changes it it switches and and obviously We've we've worked on it quite a bit um In training to make sure that that we All you know we all know our roles and And know you know where we have to be And and you know in in what position um But yeah it changes it sometimes it's It's three but mostly on the on the Defensive side it's it's a four so I get
To play a Orthodox seconds you know a lot of Coaches were be yelling for Patrick to Take that ball to the corner Dean says He's all for another goal and stuff like That what does a dagger goal like that At the end mean to the know of core of The team I mean it's fun we get we get To actually celebrate um no it's it's You know I actually I looked over to see What what Dean would be saying um and he He was just there watching um so listen When when you get in that position and And Patrick's on the ball and one V one With the defender um we we see what kind Of damage he causes when he comes on um And for him to to go out and and get a Get a reward like that um and turn turn A Defender and and you know chip the Chip the keeper you yeah can't can't Beat it do you like that the to D is To-do uh atmosphere yeah absolutely why Not um it's it is it's amazing right It's it's you know for Like I said for for him he needs he Wants to come out and and get a goal Right Carol scores so Pat wants to come On and and you know get what mean for Dean as well oh yeah absolutely why not You know he's he's he's willing to to to Take that risk and I think that's that's Important you know You sometimes you have to you have to be Clever and sit on a on a one-nil lead
And and sometimes there's opportunities To go out and and and build on the lead And and obviously that was an Opportunity right you one V one go for It we've seen a tactical ship obviously From the team but have we seen anything Else maybe like mindset wise or Something especially these last four Games no I don't think so I think the Mindset was always there I think it was Just getting getting connections um with With everybody and and it's that's Important it takes time um and so yeah I Think guys I think guys are just more Confident now right they're they're Everybody's kind of contributing in in Their own ways um and playing to their Strengths and Um you know we're getting goals from From everybody that you would expect to Get goals from um and when that happens That confidence flows right and Confidence is it's a it's a funny thing If if it's not flowing it it can look Really really disjointed and and when it Is Flowing everything just looks so so Simple and so easy um so yeah I think Just just having the confidence knowing That that we can we can score goals um And and you know at times we also are Good at at sitting behind the ball and And defending and and being in shape and And being Compact and being solid as a Group um to have both sides of that now
Playing out is yeah it's a good good Good feeling for sure how nice is it After you started here the windless Streak and now you know what it feels Like to win in this uniform in this Stadium yeah it's really nice obviously You know you you come in and not just Myself the you know Jamie and and pep And um you know Ed on you know coming in And we're not winning games um It listen it can it can break some People or or you you buckle down and you You work harder um and you know I think For us it was it was working harder um For myself it was working harder it was More communication it was it was making Sure you're doing all the right things Every single day every single training Session um even when you come away from From the you know the training ground And um now you're you're obviously and And we're seeing the rewards of of you Know three wins and and a draw in in Four um which is you know it's nice it's Nice to have momentum it's nice to go on A run and it's nice to to take it Into you know the the international Break and then the last game of the Season and then straight into the Playoffs speaking of the international Break you got a shorter commute now Nicer uh yeah it is nicer um I don't Have to leave at 6:00 a.m. anymore um You know and spend all day traveling um
You know I I get to leave late afternoon And and still arrive before everybody Else arrives which um easier on the body For sure um and and something that you Know wasn't really wasn't really a Factor when when I left um left England But you know having that part of it now Is is definitely nice and then just Coming off of that International break Coming back to the team like do you miss Something by not being with the team Practicing as much or do you feel like You can just pick up the pieces because You've been playing so long yeah no it's It's pretty pretty easy when when you You have a a manager who has a you know A very a very set way of playing um you Know he he knows and and you know Communicates the and we train you know Every single day the way he wants to Play it's it's very easy to to dip in And out um and and come you know go away And and then come back and and be right Back on it um you know for for me I've Been doing it for so long that um it Just feels like second nature now um so It's no it's no bother it's it's not a Problem and and quite easy for me to to Come in and and you know back in after After leaving for you know the 10 Days you're International bre you get to See a new coach new system are you Excited about that what do you you faced Him before yeah excited um it's a
Obviously a you Know a new situation um but again you Play this game long enough you have Manager Changes sometimes more than once in a Season um and I think for for some guys It can bring on you know a little bit of Anxiety and and nervousness and and the You know the unknown right for me I'm 37 I've seen it you know I've I've had Manager changes and and I've said in in The past is you you go in and and you Adapt and and work on what he wants to Work on and and you you know if you have To change the way you play to to stay Involved and you have to change the way You play but um you know I think it's It's an exciting time for for the group To have a new voice Um and to to move the program forward You had a lot hanging over Greg's head Before I mean that did that wear on you Guys after a while you know is it kind Of nice not to have to deal with that no I mean for for us as players we you know We had a lot of conversations and and Whatever you know happened with with all All of that you know it was that was his Own um you know his own his own business And you know we were there to to to go In and train and and play um and a lot Of us for for one reason or the other Didn't didn't perform up to our Abilities and and that's you know that's
On us as as well but um you know like I Said it's it's nice to to now have a new Voice um and to to not have the unknown Um you know we we go in with with Someone who has you know managed some of The best players in the world um and so We we have to be excited about that and Excited to to move forward and and Continue to be uh to be a part of the Program Good happy birthday thank you
