Charlotte North Carolina – The Queen City

Events, Life, Sports, Weather, News

Charlotte North Carolina is a popular destination for travelers looking for a mix of urban attractions and nature. The city’s temperate climate is ideal for outdoor activities like boating on the lake, grilling out and summer fireworks displays. Charlotte is also home to some of the nation’s best independent film festivals.

The city’s modern center (Uptown) is home to the Levine Museum of the New South, which explores post–Civil War history in the region, and hands–on science displays at Discovery Place. It’s also a hub for shopping and dining, with luxury boutiques and restaurants like The Ritz–Carlton, Charlotte and the upscale food hall at the Mall at Greenridge.

A number of popular events take place each year in the Queen City, including music and food festivals, beer tastings, and historic walking tours. The annual Queen’s Cup Steeplechase is a popular spring horse race that benefits local charities. The annual Charlotte Wine & Food Week features wine tastings and cooking demonstrations.

The Charlotte Caribbean Carnival is a vibrant and colorful festival that celebrates the city’s Caribbean community with parades, food vendors, and live music. The yearly Taste of Charlotte showcases dishes from more than 100 area restaurants and features live entertainment and children’s activities.

The city also hosts a variety of sporting events, including the Coca–Cola 600 race at the Charlotte Motor Speedway. Thousands of fans flock to the event each year to watch their favorite drivers compete. For a more low–key event, check out the artisanal offerings at the Festival in the Park in September.
