Despite being one of the largest cities in the US, Charlotte has not lost its small-town feel. Its residents love to celebrate community with a series of local festivals throughout the year, from film and porch fests to performing arts showcases and food and wine weeks.
When it comes to sports, the city has no shortage of action either. With both the Carolina Panthers and Charlotte Checkers occupying stadiums in midtown, as well as a host of local and college teams, there are always people filling up packed arenas to watch a game.
As far as weather goes, the summers are hot and muggy, while winters are cold with occasional snow. Charlotte also experiences a lot of rain in the fall and spring, with milder but still wet weather during summer and early autumn.
When it comes to jobs, the banking industry is a big employer, especially Bank of America and Wells Fargo. Lowe’s and American Airlines are two other major employers with locations in the region. Other industries include education, healthcare and technology.
