The NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race occurs in May, making Charlotte an exciting place to visit.

Charlotte is located in the Piedmont region of the Carolinas, a broad band of rolling hills that extends from Virginia to Georgia and from the Blue Ridge Mountains to the east. The area around Charlotte was originally home to the Catawba Indians, who lived in the area until the 1750s. The city was named after them, and was a crossroads for travel. Today, it is a popular tourist destination, and many visitors come to Charlotte for its world-class entertainment, shopping, and restaurants.
