James Beard Foundation was releasing Everything through Instagram and it was The most nerve-wracking experience of my Entire life every three minutes they Were posting a news story that had the New finalists for each category and Because we are nominated in the Southeast category we were one of the Very last categories for the finalists To come out but as soon as it was Updated that was when I found out the Team found out we had a bunch of friends To call us and we kind of just all found Out at one time which is super cool And then we continue to freak out y'all Scream and hug each other and have a Good time I think the reason why we were Nominated and now subsequently a Finalist for it is the James Beard Foundation is validating the vision for This restaurant the entire focus of this Restaurant is to be an employee driven And story driven restaurant where we are Showcasing people who are often not Showcased whether it's the cooks back in The kitchen the people that we are Telling the stories about even the Musicians that we play and the artists That we have in the space we're trying To put a light on people who are often Left in the shadows and it's really cool For the James Beard Foundation to Acknowledge that through this award and Hopefully we can have more people
Through this decide to kind of have the Same mindset and actions with their team As well How I personally feel is just Outrageously thankful not just for the Acknowledgment but there have been 32 Different people that have worked at Counter over the past three years and so Many of them were working at this place Where so many people on the outside were Nay saying it and not understanding the Vision and the validation for them Whether they're currently working here Or previously working here to finally Have this bit of validation that all of That craziness is worth it and now we Really get to begin you know some people Can see this as a Finish Line This is Really kind of our starting flag that we Get to begin really what we want to Start doing For all the chefs out there they're Wondering how you can create a James Beard nominated restaurant hey your People give them time off let them be Creative and tell them that you love Them all the time because they deserve Every aspect of everything [Music]
