Brian Burns: I’m all for my teammates and coaches

Burns talked about his focus on the season and his optimism around Jaycee Horn’s recovery.

But from the standpoint of coming out And having a great year And potentially getting this contract The situation resolved Does it In a way kind of Heighten your performance I guess kind Of I mean I know you play 100 but like Is that in the back of your mind like Kind of prove it sort of thing issue uh I would say it's in the back but like Way way way in that um my main thing has Always been to you know level up my game And really dominate games and that's all My focus is on but I would say it's way In the back though for sure Being able to play it Monday night I Mean obviously you don't get a lot of Attention anyway does that As far as showcasing your talent and When the kind of lets the world know What your game's all about what's that Mean to you well that's always a goal um When you have these Prime Time games you Know um everybody's watching you know Even your peers you know because they're Not playing on a Monday so it's always The goal is to show them what you can do And put the put the league on notice but I want to put the league on notice more Of a defensive standpoint than just Myself Um I want them to know how we are on Defense you know

Right the Saints had some protection Issues last week did I know you kind of Knew this every week but for Pure unit Especially is this a chance to eat Um yeah it's definitely more of a chance To eat um due to the fact that they Throw the ball more than Atlanta Um they don't necessarily have the same Run game as Atlanta the same mentality As Atlanta so there's definitely going To be a time that we can pin our ears Back and you know get after it on third Down Um as far as their troubles with Protection Uh I'm expecting Um there was that left tackle to have a Big game Um you know Um I think he'll bounce back so Opposite the left tackle I don't know it depends on the scheme Depends on the call Um Not too sure I mean I play Both Sides so I'll be over there probably some some Point in time in the game On the Monday Night Football stage Is this something that you've dreamed About or is Monday just you know just Another prime time oh no I've been I Dreamed about

Um is but it's the Prime Time game like I said so it's like all eyes on you it's Time to show out Uh I kind of taught what you said into Like this quote that I I go by as uh Motivation is temporary but discipline Is permanent so Um And that in that in that state I would Say that like if we stick to our guns You know stay disciplined and do what we Have to do things that eventually fall Our way so Everybody around this time was on a will He play will he not play I don't talk to Jesse Houston he talked to God I know You've been doing some reading um once You've made the decision to cut out all The outside noises that made this week Much more easier for you in terms of Preparation yeah yeah definitely Um all that stuff that I was I was going Through was came to a halt once a week When it was over so Um yeah this week of preparation was was Pretty smooth Brian understanding Is it is that on hold now like how would You describe now that the seasons here Kind of where that stands Um I would probably say this on hold Um you know we haven't really been in Talks

Um because I already told them like once The season start like I'm all about ball Um you know because I can't give my I Can't give a thousand percent on the Field until my teammates if I'm still Worried about you know contract Negotiations and whatnot Um and I feel like I owe that to them You know to be a hundred percent Thousand percent bought in at all times Because at any point uh you know some Back at it so Would you be During the season during the buy or Like you said if it made sense to you Know Um after conversations with uh with my Team and whatnot if uh if that's what Makes sense then we'll we'll cross that Road once we get there but as of right Now I'm all for my teammates and my Coaches Team first guy Um any any fears any thoughts of Mid-season trade Fears and thoughts of mid-season trades I ain't thinking about it too deeply Um That's my story that's my story you know I can't really control that Um Yeah that's all I got to say about that One What

What we haven't spoken on any strategies Just yet um I told you my main my main thought is Just football so Questions Is it weird that you're at a press Conference in the middle of an FSU game Yeah I was this guy I got caught Watching that just for a minute Do you have to change up anything in Your schedule other than like the Practice schedule this week just to kind Of keep The flow going just because you are Playing on Mondays Um I'll say probably a little extra Cardio Um just because we have that extra day Where you know we're more focused on the Details and trying to beat up our body Because we're gonna have a quick Turnaround next next week Um But other than that it's just an extra Day to prepare so you know extra film Study it's uh it's quite a blessing Because we have a lot of time to you Know study for Atlanta and now we have Even more time for uh the Saints so can You tell the JC since he had Frank Mentioned they had a procedure on his Hamstrings called to him and the Optimism you have and he has for for him Being back with this group yeah of

Course I always keep in touch with JC um I think he's in High Spirit she's doing Good Um and I can't wait for him to get back So that's all we're looking forward to See him coming back Um You know we it's the next up it's the Next man next up business Um so I would definitely say that uh the Guy is going to step up they're going to Step up for to fill that slack of JC Leaving but him being on that field his Presence is uh is definitely felt um From a physical standpoint mentally Standpoint uh he just got that dog in Him and um I think he's one of the most Physical Corners probably in his league So I think physicality is the is the Main thing his presence brings Especially hated for him given that he's Been through this now a couple other Times Is that does that especially do you feel Bad do I feel bad for him He seems he talks I've had with him kind Of pushed him back on this idea that He's injury prone and kind of like the McCaffrey narrative that started That's just a lot of you know he said She saved I mean we don't we try not to Buy into any of that um Of course I feel bad for him because Because I got love for him you know so

Anybody that DJI Shaq anybody get hurt That I got loved you told anybody to get Hurt that I got love for what's going I'ma feel bad for him but um from the Injury prone standpoint and all that It's just he said she said like this He has certain injuries that you can't Even control Um you know friendly whatever it may be Um but from that standpoint I'm not I Try to tell him not to focus on that you Know what I'm saying like we know the Type of player he is we know what he Brings to the game so that's just that's He said she say I ain't worried about That For sure
