Bryce Young: It’s our job to stay ready

Young talked about keeping to his routine and getting prepared for the regular season.

Foreign You see a guy who came into training Camp as a starter get cut what does that Signify about this business or the Competition here yeah I mean it's it's Tough you know to see something like That um you know it's it's surreal you Know this is different for me of course Being new to the league Um different Dynamics but I mean it Unfortunately that's part of the Business but again it's it you hate to See things like that happen Um you know And it just you know we're big on on Competition Um you know nothing no one's entitled to Any anything and you know every every Day we we try to you know compete and You know try to you know we have to do What's best for a team and I know that It's tough for the front office and Coaches have to make that decision as Well obviously we're football players But you know we're you know we're we're Men you know people are husbands and Fathers and stuff so there's you know no One wants to do that but you know I have To make you know they have to make the Decision for the team which is always Tough Um but yeah unfortunately that's one of The the harsher sides of the business Well Brian Ray is one of the guys that's

In that position you obviously play with Them with them in college what how would You describe his game yeah um you know LeBron I have been with him in college And Um you know first off you know off the Field a great guy really good dude great Guy to have in the locker room Um but someone who's a super hard worker Um you know I've been able for years now To be able to see him him how he works In the you know in the weight room you Know on practice field I'm just someone Who who you know has a great mentality Great great spirit for the game and then Goes on produces and makes plays and Um discipline player that can go out and You know you know win matchups and you Know execute which is you know at the End of the day we're all looking for so I'm definitely definitely happy that He's here right so I've got a few Big hits from your Blind Side in the First two preseason games on a limited Number of throws Um any concern there and what's your Conversations with um icky after those And how that relationship is yeah no Concerns um you know we're you know it's Football again that's part of the it's Part of the job um you know I'm gonna Get hit you know as quarterback you know It I don't I can't I don't I haven't Watched every game in the world but I

I'd imagine it's very few and far in Between when a quarterback doesn't get Hit doesn't get sacked Um so again it's part of it's part of You know the job and you know we're all Trying to grow there's no again and Stuff like that it's not one person it's Not one you know we're all as a unit Trying to get better we want to execute Every single play and um you know it's Not one person's fault On Any Given play It's all all of us and you do better on On those plays their stuff I can do that That are better as well and again I'm Growing we're all getting better and no One's you know we we all are going to Make mistakes and that's a part of it so You know I'm you know I'm trying to Focus on you know being the best version Of myself and also us as a unit us Making sure we're the best version so There's there's no finger point there's No lack of confidence or anything like That I'm I'm super super happy super Blessed to be in the locker room have The teammates that I do and have all the Confidence in the world for them Curious I know some of this is out of Your control but I mean you've only Thrown 12 passes so far in the preseason Played Five series would you personally Do you wish you were playing more Getting more you know experience under Your belt in the preseason yeah well

This is by Design um you know this is Something that you know again I I trust The coaches uh wholeheartedly and their Approach what they're doing to play Calling everything and you know it is New for me just I've never played in a Preseason game I've never I've never Played a you know like there's Scrimmages in high schools I guess but I've never played a game that wasn't you Know that the you know the play you know The the um you know the stars are Playing as much they can and again Obviously that's a part of the league so Um you know it's just something that's New for me to adjust to but uh no There's no Um you know again I our our coaching Staff our coaches they've been here for Years they've had a ton of success you Know I have all the respect in the world For them and again they we don't they Don't just wake up the day before the Game and just try to figure out they Have a reason they have a plan and you Know whatever that is I don't question I Just go in and try to execute so again I Know everything everything's happened For a reason so If the regular season was to start you Know Sooner than a couple weeks yeah I mean That's our job is to stay ready make Sure that we're always prepared I feel

Like there's definitely stuff that I Want to improve on and get better at in Their stuff throughout this week that We're looking at to growing and and Again this is a different week now Process-wise so you know this is kind of Another step in the you know direction Of just having a more game-like process And scheduling and things like that so It's great to have that on our belt but You know of course um you know we it's Our job to to be ready to stay ready and We understand you know when the regular Season starts but you know we have to do Everything we can to work towards that Uh day in and day out so I'm excited With that I'm sorry Frank said after the game that he could Tell you wanted to pass the ball is it Hard to to get into a rhythm with With limited Windows Um you know I think it's it's you know Again it's a unique set of circumstances Especially for me who it's my first Experience with the preseason of You only get a certain you know playing Only a certain amount of drives and Um you know doing certain you know just Being limited which again is a you know It's it's new for me um but you know With that being said you know it's not Something that's I would say is Frustrating or something that you know As a competitor I think we all go out in

The field and after we play a series or Play two we all come back to the Sideline regardless of the result you Know thinking all right what are we Gonna do the next Drive ready and then You know coach comes over and it's like All right you know you're done and That's with you know that's not just me That's all the guys of all right this Now we're going to let whoever else go In you're not going to go in and I think We all have that like I want to get back Out there you wanna because the game's Fun like it's it's you know it's what we All work the whole weeks for us what we What we live for is to go out and and Have those moments so you know when you Are out there it does you know the Competitor and myself and I think in all Of us you know we we want to keep Playing we want to keep going but again You have to you know there's a reason For everything I we all trust the Coaches and there's a reason for why we Do what we do so you have to reel that Back of course now I trust the process Do you want to improve I think you want to improve on before The regular season what things Sorry what was that last part Yeah um you know operation um I think Really just continue to grow in the Ownership of the Playbook and commanding The Huddle and things of that nature and

Then just being more efficient with Execution with where my eyes want to be Pre and post Snap Make sure it's a smooth operation from a Ball handling standpoint Cadence uh Footwork all those all those sorts of Things I think just just like you said Fine-tuning that and trying to keep Pushing that and you're not being Complacent you know keep trying to grow You know the coaches do a great job of Pushing myself and everyone in the QB Room and all that stuff so I'm really Dialed in on that Process are you a routine oriented guy Because now you've gone through two kind Of game day routines home and away and If so what is that game day routine look Like for you yeah um definitely do um am A routine oriented person um it actually Has been really interesting these last Couple weeks because I'm kind of Actively building it um you know these Two days again it's a very different Schedule from from College of course Um you know you're just in a different Place all you know just learning what You know the strength staff and Everything you know we have different Routines as a team so actually Um you know I'm trying to fine-tune it Now these having a home in an away game For preseason really helped of uh you Know what I'm want that routine to look

Like but it's right now it's still it's Still uh forming and still building you Try to take some of the stuff that I've Been doing my whole life and figure out How it fits with the schedule Um so Um I don't have it you know I'm pretty Much know where I'm going it hasn't been 100 iron out just because again we've Only had two and Um but it's just making sure that I'm Prepared for the the game mentally Physically you know making sure that I'm You know Crossing all you know Crossing Off all the boxes leading up to the game That we need to Um and then you know really just Managing the time of you know when I you Know when I start warm-ups and things Like that so Um yeah that's kind of been a good Process for me [Music] Say just just one you know I think There's you know from warm-ups to um you Know around the time I want to eat Things like that it's a lot of things Really I wouldn't say ones anymore like And you know I'm not really I'm not Superstitious or anything so it's not Like the one thing that like this has to Um but really it's just all um you know It's just all about how I can be at my Best you know when it is kickoff time

Of your ability to Improvise in the pocket is that Something that's happened before with Receivers you're just starting to work With and what's it been like to work Through some of that stuff with another Rookie yeah of course I think there's a Ton of things that um you know from Rich You know from my end learning receivers How they come out of Rouse how they like Certain balls certain things it's the Same thing with with me with you know With you know sometimes different arm Angles or being a different spots things Like that I think it's a big there's Always a learning curve there's always Um you know whenever you're in a new Group a new unit you know there's always Going to be little nuances that you kind Of just have to experience to learn from And again I think that was just one of Them and I think really being able to Have that and you know have the Opportunity to go over that stuff with a Group of guys that are so open-minded And so collaborative you know we all are Able to you know there's some guy you Know some people just want to be Stubborn and stuck and don't want to Change and but you know myself and you Know the receiver in times and everyone Really has a team you know we've all Been big on you know collaborating Having conversations talking all right

This is what I see this what you you Know what you see how are we gonna you Know find a way to meet in the middle And figure it out and what's going to be The best for us so you know I think the Best part for me is just being with a Group of guys that want to collaborate Want to get better want to find out What's the best for us and you know I Think we've we've grown a lot in that That department all right thanks Appreciate you guys

Packed stadiums, courts and fields ring with the thunder of applause throughout the year as athletes compete at every level of American sports. Home to the NBA Charlotte Hornets and NFL Carolina Panthers, along with many more professional and amateur teams, sports are a way of life in Charlotte.

The city is a top destination for outdoor enthusiasts, boasting 230 parks across 12,000 acres of green space and 56 miles of trails. Despite being a large metro area, it still has that small town feel with neighborhoods like the eclectic NoDa and the bar-heavy South End.

Those who prefer to hit the links will find plenty of opportunities to do so in Charlotte, with dozens of golf courses located within city limits and more than 20 in the surrounding Mecklenburg County. A number of these are a part of the city’s country clubs and require membership, but there are also a number of public options for those who would rather not pay a hefty annual fee to play.

The best time of year to visit Charlotte for sunny weather is from May to September when the days are warm and moderately dry. This is the favored season for those seeking outdoor activities, and it’s also when the city draws its biggest crowds for the multitude of popular events. The beach/pool score reflects the percentage of days that are clear and rainless with perceived temperatures in the 75-degree range.
