Charlotte is one of the fastest-growing cities in the U.S., and PODS can tell you from our customers that it’s a popular place for newcomers to call home. It’s got a lot going for it: the city’s twinkly skyline, a huge number of attractions (including museum tours, ball games, food festivals and much more), and an affordable cost of living when compared to major hubs like NYC and Los Angeles.

Plus, it’s within a quick drive to the beach and mountains. And that combination of perks is attracting lots of people to Charlotte, especially young professionals.

The first thing you’ll notice when moving to Charlotte is just how chill everyone is here. If you’re coming from a busy metropolitan area, it can be a bit of a shock at first. But you’ll soon get used to the slower pace and easygoing attitude that is Charlotte’s calling card.

During the winter months, you’ll find that many residents head out for ice skating and snowshoeing on the city’s frozen lakes and trails. And in the summer, it’s time to hit up the beaches or go boating on the lake.

And if you’re an NBA or NASCAR fan, you’ll be in heaven, as well. The Panthers are a big draw for sports fans, and when Race Week hits in mid-October, the entire town is wall to wall NASCAR coverage. In addition to the professional teams, UNC-Charlotte has a football team now and that attracts its own group of fans.
