When you live in Charlotte, you’re never short on things to do and see. There are chart-topping entertainers, gripping sports battles and colorful city celebrations in abundance. Whether you prefer a ride on the roller coasters at Carowinds or learning about science at Discovery Place, there’s something for every interest in this bustling city of over 900,000 people.
The food scene is also a big draw with plenty of eateries and restaurants serving up cuisines from around the globe. And the wine and beer scene is just as thriving with seemingly hundreds of breweries and outstanding vineyards scattered throughout the city.
Sports fans are never bored in Charlotte with teams at every level of American sport. The city is home to the NFL’s Carolina Panthers and NBA’s Charlotte Hornets, as well as a minor league baseball team, the Charlotte Knights. Plus, it’s the site of one of NASCAR’s biggest races, the Coca-Cola 600.
A big part of the charm in Charlotte is found in its neighborhoods and a variety of housing options are available to suit everyone’s needs. The historic, central business district of Uptown is known for its cosmopolitan feel and is home to the city’s best dining and shopping. In addition, you can find upscale homes in suburbias like Ballantyne and North Davidson (or NoDa) and university-based neighborhoods such as University City.
Those with children will be pleased to hear that the Charlotte area has some of the nation’s highest-rated schools. Niche, a website that helps new residents find excellent schools, gives Charlotte a B+ rating for its public school system.
