On June 23, 2023, #CLTCC voted to approve the city’s Fiscal Year 2024 budget. The FY 2024 budget shows the city’s commitment to several focus areas with investments in first responders and public safety, infrastructure improvement, clean energy, housing, the Corridors of Opportunity, and more — all without raising taxes.

Ajmera, your Charlotte City Councilwoman at large, and chair
of the budget committee. Today Council will undertake one of
its most vital functions, the Adoption of city's annual
budget. I want to thank you, our Residents, for your invaluable
input throughout this process. Your voices have shaped our
decisions, ensuring that Resources are allocated
equitably, that we are spreading Opportunity to every corner of
our city. After months of Diligent work and thoughtful
considerations, we the City Council and city manager are
proud to present a budget for Fiscal year 2024 that meets our
resident's needs and aspirations Without raising taxes. Let me
repeat, without raising taxes. This budget is a testament to
our commitment to public safety, Infrastructure development,
sustainability and improving the Quality of life for all of our
residents. A few highlights are That we have bolstered our
emergency services by increasing Pay for police and fire. And by
funding two additional fire Companies and 42 additional fire
staff. We have allocated $5 Million in our Corridors of
Opportunity to maintain and Improve roads, parks, and public
spaces. We have made increased Investments in our affordable
housing to ensure that people Are not displaced. We have made
investments and have worked with The county to build homes
program that will help Low-income homeowners to
continue to age and live in the Home they have lived for years.
This budget also invests in Small and minority business
assistance programs and in Improving workforce development
opportunities. And there is so Much more. To learn more about

Getting around is easy with the public transportation system that includes bus and light rail services. Getting out of the city is simple with the airport just minutes from downtown Charlotte.
