The Queen City has big-city conveniences with small town charm. It’s a great location for families and is also home to many highly-rated schools. Niche gives the Charlotte area a B+ when it comes to public schools, which is much higher than many other large cities. The cost of living is lower than the national average and the winter is less wild than in most places up North making this a great place to move.
From upscale, golf-centric country clubs to funky beer halls and foodie-focused neighborhoods, Charlotte is a city that has something for everyone. While the city still has plenty of “old money” – with a handful of powerful Southern families who have influenced local goings-on for generations – it also has a young, energetic, and diverse population.
Sports are a huge part of the culture here, with packed stadiums and courts hosting teams at every level of American sport all year round. From the Carolina Panthers and Charlotte Hornets of the NFL to the longest race in NASCAR, the Coca-Cola 600, fans are loud and proud for their favorite team.
The PGA tour also stops in the area, with annual tournaments at the Quail Hollow Club and Wyndham Championship. With plenty of public courses as well, golfing is a popular pastime here.
