If you’re looking for a job, Charlotte is one of the best places to live in the United States. According to Glassdoor, the city has one of the lowest unemployment rates in the country. Moreover, its median salary is higher than the U.S. average, making it an attractive option for many people.
The area that is now Charlotte was first settled by European colonists in the mid-17th century. Thomas Spratt, a relative of U.S. President James K. Polk, settled in an area near the Elizabeth neighborhood. Thomas Polk, who was a great-uncle of U.S. President James K., built a house in this area near the intersection of two Native American trading paths. One path ran north-south along the Great Wagon Road and the other ran east-west along Trade Street.
Wine and beer lovers will find a number of great breweries in Charlotte. Try Blue Baze or NoDa Brewing, or check out Legion Brewing and Triple C Brewing. Charlotte is also home to many excellent vineyards. For wine lovers, Charlotte is home to Stony Mountain Vineyard and Stony Mountain Brewing Company.
Charlotte is an ideal place for outdoor recreation. In the summer, temperatures are mild, although the nights can be chilly. Charlotte is a popular destination for outdoor pools and concerts, but be sure to wear sunscreen if you’re going to be outside in the heat.
