Charlotte Named a 2023 All-America City

The 2023 All-America City Award recognized communities that are working to improve the health and well-being of young people, with particular attention to efforts that engage young people in this work. The National Civic League recently named Charlotte an All-America City, marking the third time the city has received the designation.

For those who love to watch the action, Charlotte is home to three professional teams: the Carolina Panthers (NFL), the Charlotte Hornets (NBA), and the Charlotte Knights (MiLB). In addition, several universities have a thriving campus sports scene with popular programs like rugby and women’s roller derby.

The local craft beer movement is a big deal in Charlotte with 18 breweries and more on the way. Get a taste of the local flavor at Olde Mecklenburg Brewery or try something unique at Birdsong Brewery. The city is also a hot spot for wine and scotch with some fantastic local wineries to visit. For the sporty set, the city is home to both a professional golf course and tennis at the Jeff Adams Tennis Center at Renaissance Park in downtown Charlotte. The area is also home to the oldest rugby union organization in North Carolina, the Charlotte Rugby Club (CRC). It was formed in 1971 by former college rugby players and plays out of Skillbeck Athletic Grounds in Coulwood.
