Christian Lattanzio Press Conference | St. Louis CITY SC vs Charlotte FC

Christian Lattanzio addresses the media after Charlotte FC’s 3-1 loss to St. Louis CITY SC during CITY’s inaugural home match.

Um hey coach tough loss uh was it was it Luck was it play Um what how do you describe what Happened no it's not luck uh I think First of all I mean I never speak about The referee but this time I I had enough I think that the referee played a big Part in this game and they did And I thought it was very very poor in His decision and if you see in the Changing room the ankle of Enzo Uh he got caught And at least he has to be seen again the Situation to me this is a penalty on the One else to us And so For me the boys play the Well we made mistakes In in vital moments in and we gifted Goals to the position I think that We came here to play our game and the Boys I'm very happy with the performance Of the boys obviously not with the Results But is uh nothing to do with luck And any any standouts uh for you from Either side Plays the play well yeah yeah we had uh For me one played that won't play the Played really well for us was Camille Used I thought that he played not only well But he was consistent throughout the 90 Minutes

Um So it's the first name and come to Mama But I think as as uh all the boys play Really well it wasn't not easy to play Here in front of Of the crowd the first game and and I Think that they were helped as well All right Steve yeah Okay I wasn't sure if you were still There Uh Christian uh plain Brant at left back Today what prompted your decision for That and also bringing Andre on Not that uh Brand could help us In that position and I think he did well In my opinion uh uh I don't think we suffer particularly On his side defensively But I think with the ball brand could Give us something more and that allowed Us to play DJ in the middle of the park Together with Ashley And then I wanted to move Carol on the On the ride because of what happened With the goals so they can come inside And deliver balls and also To help To connect The front line and then Andrea I thought That he was doing really well in Precision and also When he came on against New England I

Thought that he deserved the chance to Start And with the performance of uh capetti Tonight how do you compare that to his First match and and where do you see it Going from here I think he's improved he's improved and Uh I believe that the Improvement will keep Going He's a fighter we know that but today Was the right time to connect with the With the girl that we scored and uh I think he got a penalty as well And so that would have been a game Changer in my opinion because the boys They were looking control and if we go Tunnel app then it's a completely Different game And And so and then as I said enso is a guy That needs a little bit of help and Needs a little bit of time to adapt to The league but I thought that it was More uh disciplined in the in the Pressing and it was a little bit better Also with this game back to the goal he Tried to secure the ball and I think we Had many chances to Heard the San Luis also during the build Up phase and the creation phase but Unfortunately the last pass sometimes he Was misguided and he wasn't as sharp as He should have been but I think and so I

Saw him improving from the first game And I mean there were some Sublime Moments of passing one touching you know The ball moving forward uh shortly again Held The Possession numbers but again Was not you know there when it came to Shots and especially shots on goal yeah Yes I agree with you we had the Discussion with the boys like that and We train In order to play our game home and away And uh and I think that the boys play Really well during the build up phase And then after in the last uh in the Last pass this is once you are in this Situation it's up to the players to make The decision and then sometimes they get It right sometimes they get it wrong but I think we are growing as a team and uh I understand that the results go against Us but I can tell you that there is a Spirit eye there is anger in the Changing room because we thought that we Have been we have been done today By the circumstances then uh and also The referee in our opinion was very poor Okay well thank you and safe travels Home thank you thank you Steve Carol Right hey Christian thanks this is Nick Fanelli uh wanted to know what what do You say to your team after this What's the message moving forward for Training and you know what do you plan To focus on

No we focus on uh keep uh developing our Game I thought the boys came here and Played with a lot of personality It's not easy to come in a stadium that Is uh you know the first game for them They are all pumped up And uh unfortunately I think that that Had an influence not just on the players But on other people as well And [Music] Um You know the boys came here and they Played football from the first to the Last minute Uh I don't think that the boys were Overplayed at all They try to play football and they try To create a lot of chances and I am very Proud of the way we played but we need To learn the lessons that we have to Play strong Uh key moments because we let them take Advantage of our blips concentration Because I think that our boys came here And tried to play football uh in the Right way and try to give them a very Strong game and I think they did you Just have to learn how to play strong Those moments but there is a good mood In the changing room in the sense that There is anger there is a [Music] You know the but the belief that they

Are going they are going in the right Direction That's it thank you okay Hey Christian I just wanted to ask about The the own goal when tuluma it looked Like he was trying to head the ball over The goal Um I don't know if it was a physical Mistake or a poor decision or maybe both Yeah and unfortunately it was in my Opinion was uh it was a rush decision uh That when the ball clear is behind Klaus The bull uh clear clouds is it clear one That uh that we should be dealing with That better Because the ball is not is in our hands Now the ball is is going to our Goalkeeper so to try to head it when the Unfortunately was a poor decision but This can happen and it's not the reason For which we lost the game it's just one Episode and uh Is that we are in this all together uh One guy can make a mistake at one time Is not We all Own It me first so if there is a Responsible for that is me it's not bill Is not a deal it's not you know Carol For the penalty is me Uh I take all the responsibility all the Blame that has to be taken but I think That the boys come here play football And this is what I want to see I want to See our boys play strong home or away no

Matter where we go no matter we play Against and I think that there is a lot More to come from this group Thank you okay all right thank you Christians
