Charlotte, North Carolina – A Diverse City
Charlotte, North Carolina is one of the most diverse cities in the United States. Its population is about 52 percent female and 35 percent white. The city is also a major center for business.
In addition to its diversity, Charlotte has a wide variety of entertainment options. There are numerous sports teams. For instance, the Carolina Panthers are a popular team. And the Charlotte Hornets are part of the National Basketball Association.
One of the most significant points of interest in Charlotte is the NASCAR Hall of Fame. You can learn about the history of the sport here. Located in Uptown Charlotte, the hall celebrates the heritage of the NASCAR racing series.
Another point of interest in Charlotte is the Carolinas Aviation Museum. It features planes and other aircraft. Other cultural organizations in the city include the Harvey B. Gantt Center for African American Arts + Culture and Romare Bearden Park. These organizations produce a lot of events each year.
As an important business and financial center, Charlotte is home to seven Fortune 500 companies. Some of the top employers in the area are Bank of America, Lowe’s and American Airlines.
Charlotte is also home to the largest Jewish community in the Carolinas. Most residents are affiliated with Protestant Christianity, but there are a number of new faiths.
Charlotte is also a leader in the energy industry. It is home to many of the nation’s largest energy companies. Duke Energy, AREVA, Fluor, Babcock and Wilco are just a few of the major players.
