Clemson linebacker and Charlotte native Trenton Simpson spoke to reporters last week at the 2023 NFL Scouting Combine.

Um I feel like I'm a great leader in the Locker room I'm one of those guys you Can depend on I'm very disciplined about My business uh don't give it all I got And I'm a team player for sure given Your personal role at Clemson have you Found the NFL teams that are talking to You about a lot of different ways they Would use you in their scheme yeah so I Feel like every team likes it I'm very Versatile it brings a lot of value I can Play at all three levels of the ball Deep sand all three linebackers of Summer and safety and free safety so uh I feel like every team likes that that Versatility brings value to me a lot Easier Is there a favorite alignment on the Football field that you just feel most At home oh we saw a linebacker as well Be able to use my versatility and my Speed to my advantage Uh definitely Michael Parsons and uh Clemson Alum Isaiah Simmons I feel like The versatility and the way those guys Have so much Beauty levels Um I feel like we're very um alike uh we Were coached by the same coach brand Venable so um just watching his tape and He was a huge reason why I decided to Come to Clemson uh with Coachmen who've Been able to show me the way he was used Just seeing him watching the way he's Transitioned in the NFL is truly amazing

Because I was able to watch him that Clemson as a recruiter just a great Relationship for looking at me as a big Brother for sure Trenton how did uh your Mil your your family's military Background kind of shape you as a Teammate and and you're kind of Disciplined uh it's definitely taught me A lot about discipline being on I'm excited for everybody I know we're Going to do Well everybody's truly Prepared for this opportunity and I feel Like nothing has really got all of us Ready for this you're taking it back to Your time in Charlotte even Mallory Retreat how does the reality of this Experience compare to what your dreams So this is a dream come true I've worked My whole life with this since I was six Years old this is truly a blessing and I Worked so hard so hard putting so many Countless hours so I know love going out Here and doing all the stuff I'm going To take care of everything and handle Everything that comes in my way do you Keep it Before Jordan Davis from last year DJ Humphrey So uh that competition level and the Coaches we had it was truly amazing and They had us prepared to even go off to College Uh yeah so it means a lot man I think About uh first time getting on the field

At six years old and how everything just Came to me man this is truly a dream Come true and I won't let us let me buy I'm gonna take advantage of every Opportunity have a great time and enjoy And living a moment Excellent put it on versatile and I'm a Great teammate that's really the most Important thing they've been a great Team man somebody in the locker room That they can trust on and off the field So I know that's what I bring and that's My character so just continue to be Myself and I'll be great okay Uh bringing uh value so being able to be On the field all three Downs um that's What I proud my cell phone uh being able To be in the Box first and second down And then third down spying any Quarterback Um I feel like that's my best attribute Being able to spot that quarterback he Moves off the spot off and get them Every time Yes ma'am they've definitely showed me All the rules I've done in Clemson and Uh they really like that I've been able To play at the end linebacker on safety And um like they say man that being able To be on the field at all three Downs is Very important for today's linebacker And with my speed and athletic ability That's perfect for today's NFL Everybody

Foreign Coach venables and he laid it out to me And we did a lot of one-on-one meetings So I can understand all three levels and Be able to go out there and get people Lined up I feel like versatility is Something that God just blessed me with With my ability and having great coaches I've been able to flourish at it for Sure What are your thoughts on my calendar Uh he's a great guy I've been able to See him come to the facility a couple Times in my career I remember my first Country practice at Spring ball I was Able to see him and I was like man That's my timeline but uh just the Relationship he has with Atlanta he Coached steel assembly for my high School Alexis so he's taught me a lot About him he's a great guy but I look Forward to meeting him
