Ejiro Evero talks teaching a new defense

Evero spoke about Jeremy Chinn as a weapon and shared his excitement for rookies DJ Johnson and Jammie Robinson.

Guys like just like we talked about if You could just let Coach ivero uh know Who you are raise your hand for Questions we'll go ahead and get started Um I'm waiting for the first one to pop Up here so At this point I will go ahead and defer To the group whoever wants to get Started Let's go with Mike K you raise your hand First And uh Mike from the Charlotte Observer How you doing Mike I'm well how are you Good good So you guys should have DJ Johnson it Sounds like you have a like a Development plan for him what stood out To you as the head of the defense about His team Well he's a um first of all he's a smart Football player Um you know the reports we got back from Uh Oregon uh bringing him into the Building before the draft gonna spend Some time with them and a sharp guy he's Got the attributes we're looking for in Terms of size speed Um he plays the game The Way We like so Uh a lot of good things but like all Rookies you know he's got to adapt to This league he's got to figure out the Speed of the game and he's got to learn Our defense so And then if I could follow up on another

Rookie uh Jamie Robinson what is I mean He's obviously kind of a hybrid player What does he kind of bring to that back End yeah uh versatility you know at Florida State he was playing linebackers Nickels safety he was doing a lot of Different things uh he's got a good feel For playing different spots Um obviously that shows his intelligence And what he could do above the neck and Uh so yeah we're excited about him All right let's go David Newton and Darren gate Hey coach uh good to be here with you I Wanted to ask you uh now that you kind Of get into the on the field stuff what Is your plan for for Jeremy Chen Well you know we don't want to talk too Much about that Um you know I'll say this we know we Think very highly of him I think he's a Heck of a player he's a weapon that we Could definitely uh that we're Definitely going to try to utilize Um and uh I know that uh he's an asset For us to have so I'm sorry I lost you there sir Sorry I got muted there I You've got not going to use in a Traditional sense then is that fair to Say say that one more time You won't use them in a more traditional Sense that he's been like the last Couple of years well uh you know I don't

Want to get into too much of the Specifics Um but um you know we just value his Skill set he's a guy that could do a lot Of different things and um you know uh You just got to have him on the field so And we're going to figure that out as we Work through I'm going to ask you about Dom too being being back here at Carolina and living across the street Basically from the practice field what Have you seen in him Um that kind of feels like he's not just Re-energized but just seems to be really Happy where he is Yeah well you know Dom is such a Consistent person you know 2016 when I Was his qce to last year to this year It's like he's the same person even Killed uh love for the game passion for The game Um but you know you do see a sense of Nostalgia in them you know there's a lot Of things that bring back memories for Army so he's he's got some good stories About you know when he was the head Coach here and so that's been cool but Uh and I know he enjoys you know um Being here and being in this uh Community but uh yeah Dom's been great He's been the same but I know there's uh Like all of us we're excited to be here Is zero on draft weekend Frank said he Was pretty confident there was another

Starter at outside linebacker among that Group that includes Haynes he tour DJ All those guys as you go through this Process and especially with Brian not Participating day to day How do you kind of separate those guys And and draw distinctions maybe between Them or learn more about them well you Know these guys are doing a lot of Different things technically and Fundamentally than they've done in the Past Um and we're really just focused in on That we're not worried about depth Charts or anything like that we're just Trying to get better and it really Doesn't matter even if you're a Solidified guy like Brian Burns and JC Or somebody that's uh you know trying to Fight to make the team like the only Thing that we can all control is just Getting better and being the best Version of ourselves and so that's all We're emphasizing and working on and uh You know as we work through those things Will sort itself out Do any of those guys seem more natural In that process than others after making Some degree of transition uh they're all Doing a really good job they're all Working hard they're all getting better We've seen great improvement from the First day of uh that uh first time going On the field for the veteran mini cam

Till now Um so there's been a lot of ground Covered and so we're just going to Continue to push through and get better Players and coaches All right Joe then Mike Hey Gerald good to see you thanks for Doing this how you doing Joe I'm doing Great man I appreciate it uh Darren Stole my question uh so I will ask you About uh undrafted free agent bumper Pool and uh I don't know I don't know if you've Watched much tape of him before the Draft or you know his speaker Yeah I mean he uh very very productive Player in college Um and uh you know so far has came in And done a nice job Um I really appreciate his level uh you Know in a few few days we've been Together his level of Uh preparation and he's really into it And really doing the things that you Need to do to be a good professional and So you know like uh all of us he's gotta Fight every day and get better and you Know when preseason comes he'll have a Chance to make some plays and see what He could do Are a Uh no not really we got Mr Burns and and Then we got a bunch of guys that are Fighting and clawing and doing a heck of

A job Not to not to be you know dwell on Addressers but you guys saw in Jordan Thomas who's another guy who's Converting from a different position What did he show from you guys what did He show you guys in mini camp and also Can we get an update on how utar is kind Of transitioning to outside linebacker From his natural position yeah so Jordan Um he really flashed some athletic Ability I didn't know much about a story Before the mini camp Um but just watching him go through some Of those positional drills for the Outside backers Um you see defeat the hand the length All that stuff and uh so we think it's Going to be it's going to be really good To work with him and uh you know he's Even he's a really good person as well And so and really eager to learn and so That's going to be exciting Um and then in terms of etor he's uh He's doing a heck of a job he's uh you Know just like a lot of our guys and Most of our guys from the first day we Were on the field to now you've really Seen a lot of growth and he'll continue To work through it and uh but uh we're Really happy with the progress he's Making David My are you say to me uh Ryan you broke

Up yeah David go ahead I'm sorry uh yeah I wonder uh we've been asking them so Many questions about Bryce I know he's On the opposite side of the ball but From your perspective watching him as a Defensive coordinator what does he bring To the table that makes it tougher for a Guy like you to game plan for Well uh you know out on a practice field He's um he's got command he's got Presence Um you know you see this in a lot of um Players that are high Achievers is that It doesn't look like he's straining or It's too hard so that's been promising To see and you know in person and you Know so many of these players that we Are scouting out of college or come from The SEC and uh so got to watch him quite A bit and uh you know he's he's done a Heck of a job his whole career and you Can't deny the production and at the Level he did it at and uh so um you know Like but like all the rookies he's gotta Come and do it at this level and I know He's excited about that challenge But he's a guy that he thinks gonna Really could have caused some defensive Coordinator around the leagues and some Nightmares or I certainly hope so Go ahead Gerald what would covid and transfer Portal and all this we're seeing some Older guys kind of come in as rookies

Now including a couple a couple on your Side as well Does it change at all how Your evaluation of one of those guys and Then two how quickly you might get them On the field Not really Um you know you see guys I think the Biggest takeaway is that guys are just Not uh in one place as much as you used To see Um so you know sometimes in your Scouting process you might be looking Over a couple Seasons at two different Schools or three different schools in Some cases but uh no it doesn't really Change our approach um you know there's Still such a drastic difference from the College game to our game Um and uh you know really the lifestyle Is as big a change as anything and so I Think that's the biggest adaptation for The guys and that's where um you know The biggest struggles and challenges Present themselves Back to you back Uh coordinator who prefers having a Bunch of different guys who can play Nickel or having a guy who is kind of That just Permanent fixture of the defense Uh that's a hard question to answer Um you know I'd like to think that what We try to do as a staff is

Um you know we what the guys that we Have you know we're obviously scouting Certain traits and certain Characteristics and we want high level Performers but at the end of the day you Know the guys that you have you have to Make the defense work around them and so That's what we try to do All right anything else for coach All right coach thank you so much all Right thank you guys appreciate it

Things to Keep in Mind About Moving to Charlotte, North Carolina

Events, Life, Sports, Weather, News

A bustling city with a strong job market and twinkling skyline, Charlotte has plenty to offer. But there are also some things to keep in mind if you’re thinking about moving to the Queen City, including hot and muggy summers, traffic congestion, and relatively high housing costs compared to other major US cities.

From film festivals and porch fests to performing arts showcases and food and wine weeks, Charlotte celebrates its diversity with a wide range of annual community-oriented events. The region’s major universities help fuel the local economy, and they draw in highly educated professionals in a broad range of industries.

Those with a passion for the outdoors will enjoy the long days of summer in Charlotte, when bright sunshine calls for breathable and lightweight attire. Temperatures dip a bit in fall, but mild conditions encourage people to get out and play.

The Charlotte area is devoted to beer and wine with seemingly hundreds of breweries, vineyards, and unique experiences that give newcomers something to explore. Some favorites include Heist Brewery for brunch and craft brews with a view, Triple C Brewing for a casual neighborhood hangout, and Catawba Vineyards for a romantic getaway. There’s also a thriving culinary scene, and it’s easy to find the perfect place for a meal at a restaurant or brewery. The only drawback is that the city’s traffic is a frequent source of frustration. Commute times tend to be lengthy, and traffic accidents are common.
