Reich announced that Bryce Young is cleared and will play on Sunday.
Okay um just a quick update here on uh Status Xavier Woods will be out um miles Sanders will be questionable and Frankie Loua will be Questionable um good week of practice um Obviously Bryce will be our quarterback He he was uh you know had a good week of Practice and uh so we're full steam Ahead um from from the standpoint of the Secondary Woods is obviously known as a Really good communicator how do you kind Of make up for that communication with Him and sha being gone yeah I mean uh It's just a question of getting the Reps During the week and you know everybody Everybody's into it all the time that That's what these guys are trained to do That's what they're ready to do I think You know the coaching staff has done a Good job of getting everybody ready the Players are you know they're all talking To each other um I feel like our Communication will be really really on Point this Week how would you uh we we heard Thomas Talking yesterday Frank about Bryce Bringing a little more energy and Tempo Could wondered why that was sort of it Sounds like that was something you guys Had asked him to do no I mean it's uh You know Bryce like every other guy Right I mean you know hey let's let's Get better every week um you know I Think some of that is he's excited to be
Back in there after missing a week um But yeah I mean is are we always you Know after operationally you know us Trying to clean things up operationally Everybody's got to take responsibility In that coaches players quarterback um So I think Bryce is just again doing his Job let me take a step up let me Continue to clean up this operation so That it's cleaner so that that's what we Saw this week if miles isn't able to go Chuba's done really well in in you know With limited carries how much confidence Do you have in that group a lot of Confidence in that group you know chuba Has done very well um obviously we've Been looking to get him more carries but You know I didn't call that many runs Last week so um you know we'll continue You know obviously we hope this game is More balance you never know I mean we go Into every game saying we want to be Balanced but I have a lot of confidence In chuba obviously you know we always Hand the ball off to you know uh you Know every now and then to Lisa you know We're going to you know get him a carry Or two and do different things with him From back there um just to try to keep Teams off balance but um so yeah we'll Be we'll be good either way does ju Handle the rotation based on play yeah I Mean so we list some some of the plays Are listed with a player on it um that
If it's specific but then during the Course of the game the way we've always Done it um is you know position coach is Really kind of we talk about it during The week and what we're looking and what We're thinking for but you know as Thomas as the offensive coordinator and Me as a play caller you know we're not Trying to Ma you know micromanage the Rotation of every single guy on every Single play so position coaches handle That we talk about it during the week is There I know you talked about being Urgent when you have parks and Thomas And and camping and obviously Deuce how Has the urgency been in in scripting Plays this week and what's the Communication been like I think it's Been phenomenal I I can tell right this Staff the one thing about this staff was It was a very diverse step we all Everybody came from different spot you Know some guys were here like campman You know Parks is one guy that I was Familiar with Thomas came from a Completely different system uh so I can Feel us jelling every week more and more In the game planning process told that To Mr terer Scott and I talked about That like I I literally feel that week To week growing that's normal and as it Should be I think Thomas in particular Is doing a great job of leading that Process um he's a you know he's just
Very detailed very very strong leader And so I think that's getting us where We need to be so on that urgency how do You think that was reflected in practice By the players instead of having that Sense of desperation right now yeah I Mean you know you just watch our Practice tape from this week and and you Could see it on the tape that that that For us is the gold standard you know What does the tape show this and Sometimes we call it the silent tape Right which it of course it is if uh if There was no commentary nobody's talking Just look at the tape and what does it Show and if you watch our practice tape This week you would see that Excuse me how close is to rec being to Being able to contribute to the team I Think he's getting close I do think he's Getting close he's um he looked good he Looked particularly good this week do You have do you have a sense on um the Two questionable guys miles and Franking um I'm optimistic you know I'm Optimistic um and feel good but you know We got to see over the next 24 hours and I wanted to ask you too we saw uh Justin Houston leag practice early is Everything good with just that day just That's just a rest day for him how Important from from a planning Standpoint are those bet days like What's the logic behind them um you know
Get a guy fresh to Sunday you know fresh Legs um you know you can't do that with Everybody but we have a general Philosophy and formula it's just general It's not absolute rule about how we Handle that you know what I mean so uh And you know our Sport Science staff Doesn't trainers we do a great job of Communicating talking about That do austa and then we do Kevin and Then we'll wrap it up how much of an Adjustment is it for the defense in the Secondary without Xavier Woods out there Um I don't think it's a major adjustment You know I mean I just think that you're Losing a great player and a great Communicator but at the same time you Know there's been so much Rotation by Everybody in there that you know we all Get a lot of rep everybody's getting a Lot of reps all the way from ota's Training camp so I think think we'll Respond well Frank you talked about Balance Earlier one of the Staples in your off Tends to be us the tight ends uh which Ramped up last week is that something That we can expect to see more of going Forward as much as you can say Without yeah I mean I just think that's The E and flow of week to week you know And how what coverage is they're playing Um you know every week right I mean Every play has a progression so
Sometimes there's pure progression plays Where you know it's just left to right Right to left other times there's Coverage based progression stuff so the Play might have one progression if it's One coverage another progression if it's Another coverage so um we can design Plays to go to the tight end but Obviously Bryce and Andy are going to Put the ball where the coverage dictates It to go so um our philosophy is always Spread it out get everybody involved and When you do that you know just it's There's going to be an ebb and flow to It all right last one from I want to ask Couple of references to Bryce's energy Out there on Wednesday we haven't seen You since then where has that been has That been a little bit of an issue Trying to get I don't think it's been an Issue I think Bryce is you know Everybody's got to be uniquely his own Personality you know what I mean so Um you know I I think that word if if if You know I'm not aware of that but if That's the word if that's what's being Said I think you know after you come off Of performance and really off of three Performances where the operation in General can be improved you know I think That that's normal to talk like that so Listen you know Bryce Has this is what we say what I would say To every coach and every player what I
Say to myself I got to be who I am I Gotta you know I'm comfortable in my own Skin Bryce is comfortable in his own Skin I'm going to be who I am he's going To be who he is but are we all committed To grow yeah we're all committed to grow Well what does that look like well it Looks different for every and every Player so um you know we got to push Ourselves to be uncomfortable and I Think our players and coaches are doing That how was his Week I thought it was good I thought it Was good it was um probably even better Than I expected it to be yeah thank you
