Reich shared his assessment of the first week of training camp practice and the impact that full padded practice will bring to evaluations next week.
Okay so we walked out here today you Know just talking a couple of the Players and I said you know isn't it Crazy how you you walked into a stadium It can be a small High School stadium it Can be a college State I don't know There's just something about The electricity of being in a stadium Not just for the players but for the Fans a great day out here fans really Showed up in big numbers we felt the Energy and excitement and a good way to Finish this first block of practices Yeah I mean those are little things that do That do matter Um you want to always keep that mental Edge you want both right you want to Have to work through the mundane at Times but then other times you want to Be able to handle the the different Atmospheres that you get so this was fun To be out here and have the excitement Out here today Craig I'm not sure how Much of you saw because I think some of The place Yeah I did see uh they made a couple Really nice plays I'm really happy with with the play Making that I've seen out here in this First block some big play some big you Know Shaq had a big time interception Today right in that team period I mean It was unbelievable interception the DBS
Have made the plays that you spoke of Von Bell made a big breakup Um excited about that I think that's Going to be a good group for us It's a big asset especially you know When you have quarterbacks who can place The ball you know on those deeper throws You know whether you back shouldered or Whether it's out in front or whether It's just a little bit over the shoulder Um you know so DJ you know this is the Time you know we came into this Camp as A quarterback room talking about when we Get our opportunities to push the ball Down the field let's do that let's see Who can make these plays let's develop That confidence in that chemistry you Know making some plays down the field Last year already in some of the passing Concepts now and down the field as well As that something you're looking forward To Bringing to this offense even more Yeah we you know in our in our offensive Scheme tight ends do play a big role Um they you know hit some Corners some Sail routes today really big plays love Our room I've talked about it before but You know different kind of skill sets For each of them I think they complement Each other well Of a physical a little bit more visible Than the previous two practices we Obviously saw the interaction between Larnell and Jordan
Um is there any benefit to that type of Situation just early on Camp to get it Out of the way I guess yeah I mean I'm Not I'm not really looking for any of That you know I'm not trying to Manufacture the emotion you know it Happens sometimes and you know for us Out there right it's like you know it Just it's going to happen at some point But uh you know really the energy and Enthusiasm and the grit and the fight Really has to come within so I think our Guys have been doing that when you have Those moments out there you just you Move on and and you stay focused Yeah for sure I mean and I'm not gonna You know these guys they know they know What time it is they know how to take Care of themselves and everybody knows We're trying to accomplish something Special we want to do something special We can't have four one of our guys Getting hurt you know fighting each Other so not much made of it the guys Know what know how to handle it and did A good job right was the conditioning Yeah I mean it was planned from the Beginning really I mean I was just Looking ahead and you know trying to Look for days that we can get some extra Conditioning like that so that's just Normal course of business Monday pad's on Monday yeah let's go Man I think the players are looking
Forward to it right I mean there's only So much you you can get a lot done and All this other stuff but I think we're All looking forward to getting the pads On that that takes the evaluation Process to another day it takes to Another level it takes the execution to Another level so looking forward to that The overall body of work you know the Good decision you make and good accuracy Good play making ability good command And control of the Huddle seeing out Seeing it all leading the team You know just constantly a consistency In checking all those boxes two more Questions Today I know Shaq had a nice pick I thought Bryce looked good today you Know I think he's been consistently Pretty good we've had You know it's training camp so you run a Lot of plays So I like where we're at I like the Progress he's making you know we're Still trying to feel out in our offense You know we got a big Playbook we're not Going to keep all of it you know where Can find out what we like what we don't Like what fits us what doesn't fit us And big part of that is how it hits Bryce's eye and you know us as a staff Looking at it and how to accentuate our Players so feel good about the path that We're on status
