Things to Do in Charlotte, North Carolina

Events, Life, Sports, Weather, News

The largest city in North Carolina’s south-central region, Charlotte is a major commercial hub with a modern downtown area. Its Levine Museum of the New South explores post–Civil War Southern history, while hands-on science exhibits can be found at Discovery Place. Charlotte’s suburban neighborhoods cater to families, with many soaring houses and green space to admire.

There’s plenty to do in the Queen City, from annual horse racing competitions and wine tastings to heart-pumping NASCAR races. Indulge in gourmet fare at acclaimed restaurants, or grab a blanket and head to the park for some outdoor entertainment.

If you love beer, don’t miss the 9th annual Spring South End Wine & Hops Festival, where top local and regional breweries serve up ice-cold pints alongside delicious bites. For something more bubbly, head to the upcoming Charlotte Oktoberfest. You can hoist a stein and cheers to the good times while supporting local charities.

For a holiday experience, join the community at the Charlotte Christmas Village. You’ll find vendors selling handmade crafts, traditional German food and drinks, and a variety of performances, including carolers and bagpipers. The Charlotte Symphony also puts on several performances of Magic of Christmas, a magical holiday concert with sing-alongs and guest appearances by Santa Claus.

After a record-setting 2022 Pride season, the Charlotte Pride Parade and Festival is back for another spectacular event. The day-long event includes a street festival and parade, live music, a speaker series, seminars and more.
