Locals also frequent establishments that serve cool drinks. Just be sure to wear sunscreen! The summer months in Charlotte can be particularly hot, so you should make sure to pack enough water.

Charlotte is also known for its thriving beer and wine scene. The city boasts hundreds of breweries and excellent vineyards. If you’re a beer lover, you should make it a point to stop by at least one of these breweries. Tours and tastings are offered for a variety of brews. These aren’t your typical bars, but you’ll definitely appreciate the care that goes into making your craft beer.

The area that is now Charlotte, North Carolina, was first settled by European colonists around 1755. Thomas Spratt settled near the Elizabeth neighborhood, and Thomas Polk, the great-uncle of U.S. President James K. Polk, built his house near the intersection of two Native American trading paths. One of these trails ran north-south along the Great Wagon Road, while the other traveled east-west along Trade Street.

The city is home to a large variety of live entertainment venues. The Blumenthal Performing Arts Center, for instance, is one of the top attractions in Charlotte. It features an impressive stage and seats, as well as excellent sound.
