Why Move to Charlotte North Carolina?
Events, Life, Sports, Weather, News
The Queen City’s twinkly skyline and surplus of fun things to do for couples, singles, and kids are just a few reasons why people move here at a rapid pace. It also offers a booming job market (especially in financial services), lower rents and home prices than many other East Coast cities, and what some call a competitive but still affordable cost of living.
When it comes to shopping, Charlotte is king, with the sprawling SouthPark mall and nearby boutiques offering everything from Nordstrom’s to Macy’s. Then there’s the thriving arts scene featuring local theater, dance, and music groups as well as renowned institutions like the Mint Museum Uptown.
The weather is another major perk: Unlike other cities in the South, it rarely gets too hot or cold and summers don’t last too long. Plus, winters don’t bring much snow or ice.
As for the economy, the banking and finance sector is a big driver of growth, and six Fortune 500 companies are headquartered here including Bank of America, Lowe’s, Sonic Automotive, Duke Energy, and Nucor. Then there are a number of small and mid-sized companies that contribute to the city’s vibrant startup community.
Education is a high priority for families, and Niche gives Charlotte schools a good rating with options like Metrolina Regional Scholars Academy, Charlotte Engineering Early College, and Ardrey Kell High School. And with more than 175 primary and secondary schools, you’ll find plenty of choice for your kids.
