Things to Do in Charlotte, North Carolina

Events, Life, Sports, Weather, News

The Queen City’s biggest selling point for transplants from other major hubs is that it delivers the twinkly skyline of a metropolis, but with blissfully lower rents and home prices, a low cost of living and a decidedly more chill vibe. Whether you’re in it for the racetrack, the museums or the food, Charlotte has something for everyone.

For example, if you’re into art, consider checking out the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art or the Levine Museum of the New South. Or, if you’re a baseball fan, the stadium for the Carolina Panthers is located here and there are several other options within an hour or so’s drive, including the Charlotte Motor Speedway and the U.S. National Whitewater Center.

Another fun thing to do is take advantage of Charlotte’s many local festivals. During fall, head to Freedom Park for the Festival in the Park, which features music, local food, crafts and art exhibits. Or, if you’re interested in culture, attend the Latin-American Festival for music and dance collaborative workshops, lectures and concerts.

When it comes to family friendly things to do, you can ride the roller coasters at Carowinds or check out the interactive exhibits at Discovery Place Science Museum. The city has several A-rated schools, with Metrolina Regional Scholars Academy, Charlotte Engineering Early College and Ardrey Kell High School being some of the best options. Also, if you have kids in college, the state of North Carolina has one of the lowest rates for public two-year tuition in the US.
