Jenn Moxley, creator and founder of Sunshine Media Network, was named Woman Business Enterprise of the Year at the 2022 Crowns of Enterprise Awards. On this international Women’s Day, she shares how she empowers her clients to tell their stories, and what the award means to her.
When we aren’t still making firsts,
maybe we won't have to be so loud. But as long as someone is going
to question my abilities because I'm A woman, I'm also going to take advantage
of telling people I am a woman And here's what I bring to the table
because of that. So my name is Jennifer Moxley, And the name of my company is Sunshine
Media Network. So Sunshine Media Network helps
you be the best person to tell your story. I'm really good and my team is really good
at pulling it out of someone And making them very comfortable
with the uncomfortableness Of being out front, being on a TED Talk
stage, being on a television interview, The beginnings of Sunshine Media Network was probably my beginnings
as a journalist. I started at a tri weekly.
I went to a daily. I went into WBTV as a producer, And then I worked my way into News
14 Carolina as a one man band. And since I've been on camera,
I'm still on camera And I know how upsetting and unnerving
it can be. It helps me give my clients that comfort And the skills
they need to push through it, And more importantly,
why it's important they tell their story. So many times I tell people your Y Is valuable,
but you're who is what is needed. To win an Award as a woman owned business
in a city that I have dedicated So much of my work
career to is remarkable. There aren't words to capture
that feeling. It's the kind of thing That when you win an award like that, it's
fuel for you to give back to your city. It's fuel for you to give back
on those days when you think nobody Cares, nobody's looking. You're just one in a million
and you're replaceable. So that kind of award is fuel to
to really just keep going. I appreciate having Women's History Month
because women aren't Appreciated enough for all of the things
that they contribute to our communities.
So we need an opportunity to recognize
the impact women have in our community. And if it's one month a year,
we need to take that opportunity.
