Pros and Cons of Living in Charlotte, North Carolina

Events, Life, Sports, Weather, News

Every season brings something new to Charlotte, from fiery professional sports battles to chart-topping performers and colorful city celebrations. There are plenty of pros to living in Charlotte, including a growing job market (especially in finance), a bustling cultural scene, and a surplus of fun activities for both families and singles. On the cons list, the heat can be stifling and the traffic is notoriously heavy.

If you’re moving to Charlotte, it’s best to have a car — this is one of the most automobile-centric cities in the US. The central business district of Uptown is walkable, but the rest of the city is sprawling and traffic can be heavy at peak hours.

There are many things to love about Charlotte, including its many local food hotspots and craft breweries. The city claimed #9 on Zagat’s 26 Hottest Food Cities in 2016, and is now home to a variety of cuisines. You can eat French and Italian-inspired fare at The Fig Tree, or head to YAFO Kitchen for Middle Eastern delicacies like Marrakesh lamb wraps.

If you want to break away from the hustle and bustle of Charlotte, it’s only an hour and a half drive to the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Or, if you’re a beach lover, you can travel a bit further for pristine beaches on the Atlantic coastline. There are also plenty of green spaces for a picnic or game of frisbee with friends.
