Charlotte North Carolina – A Great Place to Live

Charlotte, North Carolina is the largest city in the state. It is located in Mecklenburg County. This is a great place to live if you enjoy outdoor activities and mild climates. If you are new to the area, you will find a community that welcomes you.

Charlotte is home to many large corporations. For example, Bank of America, Lowe’s, and American Airlines are all major employers. There are also several Fortune 500 companies in the Charlotte area. Among them are Duke Energy, AREVA, and URS Corp.

One of the best things about living in Charlotte is the weather. The city has a climate that is relatively mild for the southern United States. However, the summers can be quite hot. In the winter, Charlotte sees more rain than snow. That makes it a great place to live if you’re from the north.

During the Civil War, the Confederate Navy Yard was established in Charlotte. At the time, the town had been a small village. After the war, Charlotte became a center for industry. A variety of factories were built, including cotton and gunpowder.

Located in the Piedmont region, Charlotte is situated in a broad band of rolling hills. The Catawba Indians inhabited the area until the 1750s. Once part of the Sioux Indian Nation, the Catawba Indians were eventually killed by a Shawnee war party.

In 1768, European settlers named the city after Queen Charlotte. She was the queen consort of British King George III.
