Charlotte North Carolina

Moving to Charlotte North Carolina

Events, Life, Sports, Weather, News

One of the best things about Charlotte is that it manages to balance big city amenities and a mix of cultures with friendly small-town vibes. From swanky rooftop bars with skyline views to neighborhood cafes serving up acai bowls and egg white omelets, the city has something for everyone.

The city’s central business district in Uptown has numerous shops, restaurants and breweries to choose from. A favorite is Heist Brewery where you can grab a beer and enjoy the patio with its skyline view. There’s also Fig Tree for a more upscale dining experience, serving up lamb carpaccio and elk chop.

Charlotte is a great city for sports fans with teams at all levels of professional sport. The Carolina Panthers (NFL), Charlotte Hornets and Charlotte Knights (NBA) and a minor league hockey team the Charlotte Checkers call the city home. NASCAR also has a long history with Charlotte and hosts a number of major races every year.

Another reason to be excited about moving to Charlotte is the low cost of living. Although the city is growing rapidly, apartment and home prices still compare favorably with other East coast cities.

The downside is that it’s a very car-centric city. Even with a LYNX bus line, many Charlotte residents use their cars to get around. The highways can get backed up during peak driving times and the roads are icy during winter months. Fortunately, it’s easy to escape the congestion by heading to the suburbs or surrounding towns.
