McKinze Gaines addresses the media after Charlotte FC’s 1-1 draw against New York City FC.

All right Kinsey games here um here on Sam I see your hands so we got three or Four minutes here so Carol and Sam okay Um Mckenzie was it nice to validate the Decision to get a start for you with the Goal Yeah of course Um Christian obviously showed a lot of Um confidence in me just to give me the Start and it's obviously nice to you Know pay him back in his sense with the Goal Um unfortunately thought we couldn't get The three points but yeah I'm very happy With that And just the mentality after four Straight draws you know how does the Team take this this stretch and this Result Um Yeah I mean we look at it both ways I Feel like Um on one hand we're happy to come here Um in a difficult Stadium uh playing on A baseball pitch and taking a point back To Charlotte Um but on the other hand I think that we All feel a sense of disappointment just Because Um I think that we know where we are as A team and we know what we're capable of Um and because of that we would have Loved to take the three points you know So

Um it's a little bit on both sides we Look at it um I think that there are some games where Um you look at the stats and you look at The way we play and you say like Oh Charlotte definitely deserve to win that Um today could have gone either way so I Think that we're definitely happy with The point Um and we'll you know hope to build and Um Bring the best parts of ourselves for The next game thank you well hey Sam I'll let you ask the last one John do One quick one in your personal okay okay Good good yeah first of all Mackenzie Congratulations on the goal that was That was quite a goal to score but you Mentioned in the Christian mentioned About building I know as you said you Wanted to get all three points because You got into the last 10 minutes with The lead but if you feel like that with The fact you have more points on the Road now than you did always he said do You feel like there's something in every Game of way that you can take from it That you just can keep building and Building and building and eventually the Results that you want away from Charlotte will come yeah absolutely Um You look at where we were last season I Think that we were just getting our

First away win uh today of last year I Think it was July 5th or July 4th of Last year so Um I think that the team is shown this Year Um what we hope to at the beginning of The year we wanted to show more Consistency Um away from home and we've done that so Far um so it's just you know going to Going into each game like Christian says And just trying to um just find the best Version of ourselves and um to play with That consistency Um something that we're building on and I think that we have Um obviously if you look at it Statistically done better this year than Last year Cool thanks John um last one for Sam Um Mackenzie congrats on the goal just Wanted to ask uh you know uh Ben got Married and got a brace you got engaged Congrats and uh got a goal uh is there Anything to that uh Celebrations of love helping you all on The field That's got to be the love uh no but in All seriousness Um it's very nice just to have Um such a supportive partner and someone Who pushes you to do better and also Just supports you on and off the field So

Um I don't think that it's a coincidence That uh just with that support we're Able to do so well in the field Thanks have a wonderful trip home thanks Sam appreciate it all right thanks Everyone appreciate you
