Miles Sanders confident for Week 1

Sanders spoke about his relationship with Duce Staley, the Panthers’ explosive offense, and recovering from injury.

Miles uh coming back yesterday what did You want to get out of that first Practice uh just really run around you Know get tired and you know work through The tire it was hot one of our hottest Days yesterday too so try to just get my Legs back being out those just a week You know While she's confident you'll be ready For week one absolutely absolutely Uh Deuce is known for having some pretty Tough training camp uh drills for you Guys Um How important was it for the other guys To kind of get those added reps Throughout the summer uh well what when I first got with the uh guys like tuba Uh Raheem and stuff um I just told them Off real how Deuce was you know I just Look just just coming locked in and just Be ready to work to be teachable be Coachable and he's going to love you and That's that's that's kind of what it is And they they feel what type of guy he Is you know he he puts his heart and Soul into this and he puts all all his Time trying to make us better so and They all feel that and see that in it's A real love and and bond in the room you Know we got each other's back in like I Said they all feel what type of guy he Is and just embracing it just having a Coach like that take you a little bit to

Get used to that as a rookie uh no I I Kind of had Um some some coaches with Yeah yeah I had some crazy coaches in my Time starting from high school too so uh Shout out to coach Whitehurst For sure having that conversation with Them about how he was as you put it what Did you want them to understand uh just You know um if you come in every day and Work uh Every day and grind every day take one Day at a time and listen to what he has For you uh he's gonna get the best out Of you and that's basically what I want Everybody to just know this he's trying To get the best out of you and just just Embrace it you know training can't Supposed to be hard you're supposed to Be tough so we can make the games easier You know so just just embrace it Well if you're capable of accomplishing Whatever I can to help us get to get to The playoffs or whatever that is running Catching blocking whatever I'll do Whatever to you know help the team get To a playoff I want you to find this Offense Uh just explosive you're gonna see a lot Of a lot of people getting the ball Touching the ball you know a lot of Tiling around the whole offense and it's Going the ball's gonna be spread around Too so and I'm going to try to control

That line of scrimmage A lot of your teammates have described You as someone who's humble and who Didn't come in here and say okay I'm I'm The starter listen to me whatever where Does where does that come from have you Kind of always been like that shout out To my mom I guess uh this is how I've Been never been you know like a meme Type of guy like each his ex or whatever It takes to Whatever the team wants me to do Um Whatever that is I'll do whatever in Order for us to get to where we want to Go personality Seemed a lot with With willing to get beat up and like get Back up you know what I'm saying yeah so How does that like how does your Humility match That for lack of a better term dog that You have to have uh I mean it's kind of I don't want to say it's like a switch But like I know what comes with with Being a running back and especially in The league and it's just a mentality you Know um there's some that I switch on Really in in the game you know uh Practice too like I practice practice Hard try to finish every run through the End zone stuff like that and induces Honest for stuff like that so but um my Personality and the way I really carry

Myself that's kind of I don't think it's Really too you know like I kind of keep That separate like uh like I grew up Humble and that's how my mom raised me So You've grown I mean you've played with Pretty humble leaders too in the Backfield Jordan Howard Boston Scott What have you learned from them from a Leadership standpoint that you've kind Of taken into this first summer here With the other guys yeah uh I say Boston Yeah both of those guys actually because Um the way stuff planned out I ended up Taking the starting role over there and You know those those two are still older Than me so Um like I said just a bracing a role and You know always give me feedback on what I need to work on I'm asking them Because it's just a you know it's just a We're teammates you know not enemy's not Opponents and I want to see him see them Do good just as much as they want to see Me do good so it's kind of kind of that Type of Working with Jalen hurts in Philadelphia That'll Maybe help you understand some of the Things that Bryce is going to go through This year and I mean rookie quarterbacks Typically struggle anyway so what what Did you learn from that experience that You think can

Help him have success this year uh just Watching Jalen and how he carried Himself uh like I said I Um like he's the first one there in the Building last one to leave you know just Just really taking his job serious I Mean you already have to be a type of You have to go to work a certain type of Way when you're the quarterback of the Starting quarterback of an NFL football Team but Um just his mentality Uh outside of that like he's already He's sharp like Bryce is a real sharp And that's kind of what I learned from Jalen too like I said before Nick Saban's doing a great job at Alabama and Um yeah those guys are just sharp from From not even just the quarterbacks you Know Devonte Smith I played with him and Guys are just sharp and all about they Work This offense as explosive but I think Fans would say that they haven't quite Seen that yet here in the preseason how Confident are you that we will see that Come week one without getting those live Reps just grinding uh you guys gonna see The practices that we do so we grounding Every day and um Just trying to really I don't let the preseason you know Dictate whatever the the season is going To be you know everybody knows what the

Preseason is for and it's for guys to Have the opportunity to make the team so Um I wouldn't necessarily judge it all Based off that but Um what's grinding every day in practice Uh I could say that yeah we're going to Be very explosive and hopefully hard Hard to beat if we just keep grinding And you know shaking it day by day He had 55 catches here First year in the league and then I Think the last three it's been in the 20s is there is a part of you I was Wondering if there's any explanation for That and it's a part of you that wants To show everybody listen I can be you Know dual thread guy kids falls out of The backfield a little more Um I don't have no explanation I can Only do with with uh what I'm told to do And um but to answer the second question Yes I would love to you know showcase my Talent like I said whatever is passing Or catching the ball running the ball Blocking I'll do whatever uh to help my Team win so Spencer Brown through the summer and This off season Spencer Brown what have You seen from him during this offseason Uh yeah that's that's one of my guys too That's one of the main guys that I kind Of told Um just how Deuce was it just got Embrace it just be coachable uh and it's

Just you know Deuce is very big on the little things He knows that we're talented to know he Knows what we could do with the ball in Our hands it's just a little stuff where We do without the ball in our hands he's On us about and and uh that's what took Kind of just the whole group to just get Used to you know just finishing after Every play you know chasing the ball After when we don't have the ball just Stuff like that in Um expenses just take a bracing it like I said he like I said to doing he's Getting better each and every days It's important for you to play Friday Night to get some reps before you get Into a game uh yeah hopefully we'll see Is this to be determined still you know Um my first day back it was yesterday Had a good practice but you know just Going uh taking it day by day so I would love to give my opinion uh but At this point I'm it is what it is with The running back market and uh I found The new home and I'm happy here so Yeah thank you
