Miles Sanders talks creating a championship team with the Panthers

Sanders spoke about the opportunity to reunite with Duce Staley and maximizing every day as a veteran on a new team.

Uh guys we're all right guys and gals We're all joined by uh miles Sanders uh And we will go ahead and open up for Questions looks like uh first one up Will be uh Mike K from The Observer Hey miles good to see you again what's Up my guy How are you I'm good good great Good uh so you entered this this team is Like the unquestioned Veteran running Back for pretty much the first time in Your career I'm just curious what did You learn from Jordan Howard and and Darren Sproles and all the guys that You've worked with over the last 40 Years bringing that mentality here Um this Uh you like you said this is new for me Being an old guy in the room uh they Already got jokes for me already so but Uh Just um basically how they Sproles I Mean just how you take care of your body You know I look at explosive a guy uh With his size and you know in the Success that he's had and how long he's Played so all the all the only questions I got to ask is what made you maintain You know playing at a high level this Long you know at the type of position That we play and that's kind of just all The advice that I really take from you Know it'll be the little stuff you know You go on this field you go do what God

Do do the time that God gave you but um This is just a little stuff that I kind Of picked picked from uh the old guy's Brains And then how how big of an influence was Deuce in in signing here and reuniting With him uh uh big big and he's probably The main reason why I came came over Here you know um just just to reconnect With somebody that understood me and Um had faith in me from the jump you Know the drafting me and uh know uh what I can really do you know and what I Could bring to the table so that's That's kind of you know the reason why Uh me and Deuces locked back into uh to This day and I'm excited so All right we'll go to Skyler Callahan Mike Slaughter than David Hey Moss scholar calendar Sports Illustrator appreciate the Train by the Way Pirates fan yeah Um just just wanted to get your thoughts Kind of on chuba I know you haven't Really been around him a whole lot yet Just what do you think of him as a pro And and what kind of running style he Brings versus what you bring to the Table uh I think it's it's very similar Um watching his film you know we've been Watching all the inside zones and and All the Run type of different type of Run plays with the guys that's been here So with him Raheem and and uh Spencer

You know uh all Really talented uh running back you know All different in their own ways uh too So uh Um tube's a guy where he likes I like How vertical he gets uh from the jump You know he likes to get North and South He's not he's never really trying to Bounce it out or you know trying to make A big play you know and hurt himself but He's always trying to go north and south That's what I like about his game Hey my uncle Spectrum news one good to See you I'll give you your wave back That yeah appreciate it the uh you Talked about uh coming here with deuce And that mean and that relationship from The from the actual on-field standpoint How attractive was the panther offensive Line to a running back to to make the Call and say yeah this is where I want To go oh yeah not too far from where I Just left you know um I left a line Where To probably Top Notch you know um best In the game in my opinion Um but uh this this group is Either just as good or better you know Um just by watching her film and Watching how they work and how they move I'm constantly complimenting them just How they move on these workouts these Guys are moving really good which I love You know uh but um yes bring me a lot of

Confidence like I was just listening to Andy uh talking it's a running back Different just as much as a Quarterback's best friend too so And as you as you look at what the Panthers are likely to do at the draft And bringing in a rookie quarterback That could very well mean a lot of work For the backs as well and you're a guy That can run it and catch it as well it Just seems like this was almost a Tailor-made spot for you in terms of how This team is taking shape this off Season yeah absolutely um this I just Like how to how the team you know Embrace me and uh wanted me and uh and Know what I can do Um at the end of the day they know I'm a Three dollar back-end um Hopefully I can do whatever I can to Show that and help this team get as much Wins as possible Thank you very much Yes sir Over you David I'm great man I woke up this morning I Feel great Hey miles David Newton espn.com Um What about this offense the way it's Built right now would help a rookie Quarterback compete right away Um It's very uh everything I mean just

Breaking down us being breaking down the Offense and installs each and every day Uh everything just marries up together And makes sense I say as for I think everybody's over here learning This new offense you know it's kind of Similar to me just because I I left a Similar offense but uh I think it's It'll be easy for for a rookie Quarterback to come in in Do good right away because it's very Simple it's not uh I can't really talk off a quarterback Standpoint but um uh but to me it seems Very simple uh with the type of stuff That we're putting together and um how It's being called and everybody knowing Exactly what they like the cause tell us Exactly what we do so um it's pretty Simple to me but we'll see You've done pretty well for a five foot Eleven guy uh you ever worked with a Five foot ten quarterback and what do You think of uh what you've seen how to Bryce Young Uh what I've seen out of Brighton Um I only watched the Well he's been in every national Championship game I think I don't know I'm not really too big on the college Football all like that but uh I know He's a Heisman and Um very good uh quarterback that plays At a very high level he plays in the SEC

And he's been winning in the SEC so Um I mean whoever whoever we get uh Hopefully it's the best guy in the draft And hopefully whoever comes here just Knows it's time to work in and we're not Rebuilding nothing over here we're Trying to get straight to it Appreciate it thank you A little Mike and then Joe Miles how similar is this offense to Doug's and nicks uh it's more It's more uh similar to Doug because you Know um As far as no it's not actually some of The Ducks I'm tripping I'm tripping I'm Sorry uh this offer is more similar to Knicks uh that's the office I just left A lot of RPO and uh quick decision Making you know um my uh establish a Line of scrimmage a little a little more Over here than they like to do in Philly You know I might like to run the ball a Little bit more but um but yeah it's a Very similar offense really there's Nothing nothing much too different Really Thanks Hey miles Joe person with the athletic Good to see you man how you doing I'm Doing great I appreciate it uh you would Just talked about this conference you Know wanting to establish the run but uh You had such big receiving numbers early In your career do you think is that a

Part of your game that you would to kind Of get back to you and do you think that Might happen kind of organic organically With a rookie quarterback absolutely Absolutely That's I think it'll happen organically Just by the the coaches that we have Here and they know exactly uh what type Of back I am and um Yeah they'll let me do what I do and Help this team get some W so um Did you expand on that part of your game And just seem you know like a pretty Natural thing for you coming out of Penn State uh uh it's I definitely can get Better you know it's been about probably Two Three it has been three years since I Actually had a year like that in um my My uh my work load in in the receiving And it hasn't been haven't had as much Attempts either so um but yeah I'm Looking forward to getting back into That three down tight back in Um yes just just floating and see we'll See what happens And then one more totally different Topic I think you were in one of the Early draft classes that did this the S2 Testing with the cognitive and where the Shapes were popping up on the computer And you're trying to remember how many Diamonds you saw on the screen was it a Concussion test

[Music] More like reactionary cognitive testing And we did was that the combine I think it would have been at the Combine yes Yes it might have been a different they Might have just started I don't remember That I'm sorry I tried to try to forget The comment I wasn't a fun experience at All Right let's go ahead and go to uh herb Uh What post and then back to Skyler Hey miles thanks for uh showing up today I have a question in terms of last year You had a really good season with Philadelphia over 1200 yards rushing uh Have you set goals for this season uh Whether they're personal or team Oriented or 23. honestly the the only Don't make fun of me I'm serious the Only goal I have is really just taking This day by day you know with a new Environment new coaches Um new players to be around everything New building new area uh just taking it Day by day and you know and invested Into every day giving it all every day So around a lot of new people so I just Uh just trying to earn a lot of people's Respect if I I don't know if I have it Already or if I don't but I'm not Worried about I'm just trying to earn Everybody's respect and you know get

Accustomed to everything So nothing Performance Based uh that'll Come that'll come back with me just Taking it one day at a time and Maximizing every day Thank you Miles uh just explain what that Experience is like playing in the Super Bowl this last year and how that Experience can help you uh maybe give Advice to guys this season especially When it gets in the mix of the playoff Racing you know this is obviously a team That hasn't been playing football deep Into the year so what advice will you be Able to give those guys Um simple it's addicting it's addicting You get through it once and you want to Go there every year so um I know what it Takes and Uh the stuff that we did last year Everything worked on all type levels uh With even in the organ even in the Building just everybody just working to A certain You know Extending like everything just clicking And I know how that Vibe feels I know Uh High Super Bowl team feels uh at this Point um just chemistry and working Together and literally invested into Every single day not taking no days off And it's addicting it's addictive Feeling and hopefully we can get to that

Point and create a championship team Over here And then lastly um just how that that Game ended obviously you know going your Way is that like a big motivating factor Going into the off season even with the New team Um just how much does that play back in Your mind absolutely Um you know it'll be a blessing to get Back there with a whole different team So uh that's even even harder to do so Um but I look forward to it All right thank you everybody miles Thank you for taking the time thank you Appreciate y'all
