Living in Charlotte North Carolina

Events, Life, Sports, Weather, News

When you live in Charlotte, there’s always something to do. From heated sports battles to chart-topping entertainers, the city is packed with culture and excitement. It also offers a serious outdoor lifestyle. In fact, the area is home to several great lakes like Lake Norman and Lake Wylie.

In addition, there’s the Discovery Place, a STEM-focused hands-on museum for kids of all ages. There’s also the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art, where you can see works from Warhol, Picasso and others. Plus, tennis enthusiasts can enjoy the 13-court Jeff Adams Tennis Center at Renaissance Park and sports fans will love the city’s professional football and basketball teams like the Panthers and Hornets as well as the minor league hockey team, the Charlotte Checkers and soccer’s Charlotte Independence.

Living in Charlotte also means you’ll get to experience true southern hospitality. While some think southerners are passive-aggressive (you know, they smile, say hi and then snicker behind your back), most would agree that there’s something special about the way Charlotteans treat their friends and neighbors.

As for cost of living, it’s pretty reasonable. The state’s sales tax is 4.75% and then there’s the city’s additional 3%. Property taxes are relatively low, and there are no estate or inheritance taxes. Overall, the cost of living in Charlotte is below the national average. And you’ll find plenty of affordable neighborhoods in the city and surrounding areas.
