Obed Guzman: My wife's family
was here in Charlotte. We kind Of talked about is like, look,
the faster way to learn the Language is to immerse. What
about we go to North Carolina For a year, and then come back.
And yeah, that never happened. My name is Obed Guzman. I'm the
owner of Alma HVAC here in Charlotte. I was born and raised
in Mexico, and I had a very good Education. I got my associates
degree on heating and air Conditioning. When we came, I
think it was 1996 to Charlotte, It was a very beautiful city. I
worked with for a local HVAC Company in a residential site.
And all the customers were very Friendly, but I could feel that
shocking that I was coming to Their house and service their
unit and they didn't know if I Was able to communicate with
them. Now it's a lot different. I think the majority, you know,
love us because they know how Hard we work and how good or
services are. So now it's more Welcoming. A lot of times, communities get
ignored. And especially Latinos, We give so much back to the
community and we want to Contribute back. And if the
government is looking at us and Gives us the opportunity to
express ourselves, I think we Get more motivated to work
towards the city that we love. If we provide inclusion and
recognition for different Cultures, we will have a more
diverse and more united city From different backgrounds.
