Living and Working in Charlotte North Carolina
Events, Life, Sports, Weather, News
The Charlotte lifestyle appeals to young singles, couples and families at an increasing rate. The city’s urban culture and suburban neighborhoods entice newcomers to live closer to their jobs. There is an energy in the air that feeds ambition but also keeps it grounded enough to be a place where anyone can find their niche.
Restaurants here offer a variety of cuisines with something for everyone. Renaissance Patisserie makes authentic French treats with indoor and outdoor seating. Living Kitchen in the Uptown neighborhood is a non-profit restaurant that sources ingredients from nearby farms and donates all the profits to charity. The menu here is vegetarian-friendly but meat lovers will enjoy the organic fare as well.
For sports fans, the city hosts several major professional and college teams. NBA and NFL fans love to gather to cheer on their favorite players, while NASCAR fans come in droves during race week.
Unlike some larger cities, the cost of living in Charlotte is relatively low. And the booming economy attracts people from across the country to take advantage of new opportunities here.
As a result, the local housing market is one of the fastest growing in the nation. And you can find a wide range of new homes from luxury condominiums in the heart of the city to sprawling family houses in suburbs like Indian Land and Waxhaw. The local schools have excellent ratings and there are many private and charter school options for those with children. But if you want a break from the bustle of Charlotte, just an hour’s drive west will put you in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Or, if you prefer the beach, a four-hour trip east will get you to the Atlantic coast.
