Charlotte North Carolina Offers Big-City Amenities and a Melting Pot of Cultures
Events, Life, Sports, Weather, News
Charlotte is a city that offers big-city amenities, but with a friendly, small-town feel. Newcomers are quickly embraced by the locals, who pride themselves on their Southern hospitality. The Queen City also has a diverse population, making it a melting pot of cultures and traditions.
With a variety of neighborhoods and suburbs, Charlotte’s residents have the opportunity to live in areas that suit their lifestyles. Popular suburbs like Dilworth, Belmont, and Fort Mill are known for their charming communities with many adorable bungalows and white picket fences. These neighborhoods are very walk-friendly and focus on supporting small, local businesses.
For those that prefer to get around by car, Charlotte has a well-developed freeway system and public transit options that run throughout the city. However, the CATS bus line can be difficult to navigate and often requires exact change for riders. For this reason, most residents choose to own a car in Charlotte.
Charlotte has a large number of professional and amateur sports teams. The city’s NBA team, the Charlotte Hornets, is a major draw for basketball fans and was named after Michael Jordan at his request. The city’s NFL football team, the Carolina Panthers, is a huge attraction as well. The Panthers have a very loyal following and are one of the most attended teams in the league. In addition, Charlotte is home to a few minor league hockey and soccer teams. These teams are often played in Bojangles’ Coliseum, which is owned by the popular fried chicken chain restaurant Bojangles.
