Charlotte FC and Modelo get to know VP of CLTFC Supporters Group Blue Furia, David Carrasco and learn how he brings the Latin culture to Charlotte through family.
Hey my name is D Carrasco I'm the VP of Blue FIA and this is my Family my parents are from Peru but I Was born in La my involvement with Charlotte is uh helping bring the Latin Culture to the city and and part I'm Actually currently VP of blue FIA and Part of the council the charlot of SE Looking to um integrate that culture With the existing culture here in Charlotte and bring a exciting Atmosphere that we all can enjoy [Music] Together my dad actually introduced me To the game at age seven and so I got Started playing then but my grandpa was Actually sending me out to games and Showing me um you know the love and Passion that he he had from a very young Age as well just remember following the Peru national team and ending out in Either you know losses or draws but Regardless his passion never fell and He's he was always trying to motivate me To watch the games with him and it was Something that I I always hold dearly as A great memory with Him just recently my parents have Visited they came out to uh one of the Games and yeah they they loved it they Were really proud and happy of of being Able to say hey like I'm able to Experience something in this city that They've always spent a lot of time in it
Was one of those things that they missed Back home all they've known was once They got here was work and they really Didn't have the opportunities to enjoy Themselves like that to experience it Here in the states I think it was Something for them to say wow like Soccer is growing the city the culture Here is growing they're just excited to See I guess my little one being able to Be exposed to that from the beginning Again I I didn't grow up with this so it Was again a missing link for me but I've Learned so much from everybody that's Put their time and effort into this and I'm hoping to pass that along all right So these are the few scars we I've Collected throughout the year a couple Of the Charlotte of sea scarves these Are one of our first original ones for Blue fura this is the latest one for This year was able to finally see my my Hometown country for Russia 2018 and yeah I'm hoping to to collect a Bit more with the years to come so I Have to say I'm very fortunate that you Know my wife is fanatic of soccer as Well as soon as the team was announced She was just excited as I was and so it Wasn't you know very difficult to you Know transition a couple things of that We had that we were doing prior and say You know what we're all in you know give Our time to the team try to figure out
You know how we can grow the group or How can constantly get more involved With the team she's been she's been There she's been just about as many Games as I have the little one you know He'll come sometimes and sometimes it's Difficult for him to stay out too late But yeah he's definitely enjoy a couple Games as Well we're planning our wedding uh we're Between 2018 2019 and then uh I guess Our national team Peru finally qualified And didn't take much to convince but but We told her uh you know let's go ahead And push it out to 2019 and then uh my Parents actually had came up with this Idea went ahead and put the uh put me in A soccer jersey was soccer ball in the World cup so remind her at our wedding Date I'm told her I wasn't going to Reference many things about the World Cup anymore but I'm still here Referencing stuff family I think it's More about people who who have your back Um people who share similar interests People who you can go back to and and Say hey you know maybe you're going Through period in your life where you Need some more support and I think That's kind of what you see with this Group that has been built up people are Are constantly talking to each other Hanging out outside of soccer helping With each others may it be a job may it
Be a um you know something that they're Trying to give away or or even Community Um things that we've done around the City I think that uh from the get-go There's always a sense of family that's Been buil out with a group people that Want to just be with each other and be Able to celebrate and be passionate of Of the of having that team here the city You know once you start realizing things Are rolling and and growing people from All walks of life come in to pitch in Their time and abilities to grow what We've become today it wouldn't have Happened without the hundreds of people That are now you know very passionate About what we've developed and grown and What it will be here in the future we Hope to leave something where people can Feel at home um especially coming from Another country and you know we'll see Where it goes from There [Music]
