Charlotte has all the amenities of a large city with the charm of a small town. The residents are diverse and eschew homogeny. You can find everything from a traditional southern BBQ restaurant to a sushi spot. The culture is a blend of old money, power families and newer arrivals. There are a slew of distinct neighborhoods, from the booming bar-heavy NoDa to the gentrified and artsy South End.
The sports scene is thriving in Charlotte. You have NFL football, NBA basketball, professional hockey and baseball, and the booming MLS soccer team, as well as a number of popular local golf courses. The Charlotte Hornets, once known as the Bobcats, are a big draw for basketball fans with their bright team colors and cool merchandise.
Aside from sports, the city is home to some of the most beautiful parks and green spaces in North Carolina. The parks are maintained by the city and have a range of facilities including hiking, biking, and skating trails. There are also a number of lakes and wetlands, such as Lake Norman.
The weather is typically warm, with a few hotter days scattered throughout the summer and some snowy days in winter. Usually, the temperatures are mild and sunny. The muggier season lasts for 4.2 months of the year, with the highest humidity comfort level occurring in July. The drier season lasts for 8.5 months, with the lowest humidity comfort level occurring in November.
